Egyptian farmers devised methods of surveying land out of necessity. When annual floods washed away boundary markers, farmers had to remeas

Stone workers learned how to cut tall obelisks from a single rock, using hot fires and cold water to make the surrounding rocks crack. They then finished the job with hammers and crowbars.
