1、This report will compare and evaluate different types of network systems, for example，the benefits and drawbacks among three communication network- LAN, WAN and INTERNET. This report will introduce some current information communication technology as well. The effects of these information communicat

2、ion networks will be identified.Network system“a communication systems that links two or more computers and peripheral devices and enable transfer of data between the computers” （Bocij P, Chaffey D, Greasley A, Hickie S: Business Information System）. Networks enable business to operate effectively b

3、y linking people and information:a.Reduce cost when compared to more traditional method of commnicaiton.b.The speed that in formation is received is much faster using computer all over the worldc.Enable distribution and sharing of information d.Ordering can be done online more quickly; the use of em

4、ail as a communication tool.e.Increased security of data that is restricted access through the use of passwords and the file servers. There are three network systems provided to ICT Company:Local Area Network （LAN）The local area network is a network which connects computers within a single office an

5、d building. For example, a group of computers associated device that share a common communication line or wireless link. LAN serves within a geographic area like an office or a building. LAN could reduce the ICTs cost by sharing the resources of a single process such as the printer. LAN could also m

6、ake the staffs of ICT share easier share files. Through LAN system, ICT could permit easier and more quickly communication with staff.With using the LAN system, the manager of ICT could do work easily. LAN network could save office room storage of large amount of data for ICT. LAN makes the work of

7、manager more efficient by saving time because electric copies can be sent to users. Additionally, LAN allows manager manage information easier within the business. And due to email, communication between managers will be easier.Wide Area Network （WAN）Wide area network is a group of computers and dev

8、ices covered large geographical areas. The organizations could be based in different parts of a city, a different country or any where in the world. Internet is a good example. WAN connects many LANs in general.WAN could overcome the communication far away form over distance and make ICT trade with

9、a virtual manner. Accessing remotely, ICT could saving time in communicate with staff.As the management of ICTs manager, they could transfer large volumes of information between branches. Video conferencing could saves time for meeting between managers and the individuals position could be limited w

10、hen access to information. The manager could share information in a secure manner.Internet Service Providers Internet belongs to WAN and internet is a network of networks. And link computers sharing internet protocol. The files or documents could be used in another computer through the internet.ICT

11、Company could access to large range of external information, allow up to date information to be addressed instantly. And ICT could permits connect with other branches all over the world.For the managers of ICT, they gain access to more information for making long-term planning. They can gather more

12、information for marketing research on competing financial products and have contribution to develop marketing programs with specifically at particular customers.Network TopologyLinear Bus TopologyA single cable with a terminator at each end is connected to all nodes such as file server, workstation.

13、 The bus topology uses a multi-drop system and all nodes share a common bus and only one device can transmit at a time.The advantages of linear bus topology are uses simple system of wiring, easy to add to the system and well suited for temporary networks with short cable length. On the contrary, if

14、 the main cable breaks, the net work will fail entirely. Maintenance costs maybe higher in the long term.Star TopologyIn the star topology, there is a central hub, and each node is connected directly to it. The hub is the central connection for all PCs in the network.In star topology, it is easy to

15、add new stations, easy to install, maintain and monitor. It can use different types of wiring. It is only the connected device will be affected if the wire is fault. But the failure of the hub means that the whole network fails and longer lengths of cabling required.Ring TopologyThe ring topology is

16、 a loop system where computers and cabling form a ring. Each computer connected to the loop has equal status and no particular node has responsibility for controlling the network.The ring topology suitable for fiber optics, equal access at all stations and expanding the system does not affect perfor

17、mance. However, this is the most expensive topology. If one computer fails it may affect the rest and it difficult to detect faults.Tree TopologyTree topology includes a combination of both the star and the bus topology. It contains groups of star-like workstations connected to a bus backbone cable.

18、 Hubs are connected along a bus.Thought the tree topology us point-to-point for each section, the length of each section is limited by the type of cabling used. It is more difficult to configure than other types of topology and if backbone breaks it affects the whole section.Mesh TopologyThis type o

19、f topology has devices two types of mesh topologies:Full mesh- every node is connected to every other node within the network.Partial mesh- is cheaper than full mesh, with some nodes connected to the full mesh whist others are only connected to one or two in the network.It is vital that the technolo

20、gy is suitable for the business and ICT Company should consider all the following factors to choose: Cost, speed, stability of system, expected growth, distance, existing network, infrastructure, maintenance and troubleshooting and instantion.New ICT Innovations Wi-fiWi-fi means wireless fidelity an

21、d uses a 2.4 GHZ band to transmit data. It belongs to wireless LAN. Wi-fi is like a radio broadcast in that it makes users to catch up with network connections.Without cables, Wi-fi is a method connecting internet fast. Wi-fi is faster than dial up connections. It is easy and cheap to install. Excep

22、t make ICT Company build network with low cost, it is great benefit ICT Company when the company expands or change layouts. Additionally, Wi-fi make the manage work flexible manner. BroadbandBroadband is a high-bandwidth internet connection that transfers or downloads information 40 times faster tha

23、n a standard telephone and modem. It uses ADSL （Asymetric digital subscriber line）.Broad band can convenient ICT Company as it is cheaper to run, thus it is could save cost for ICT Company. By saving times, Broadband could make ICTs business be more efficient. The greatest benefit is that Broadband

24、could be on 24 hours, thus, ICT Company could do business in any time of the day if necessary. For example, the company could do online ordering, online sales and online financial transactions in any time. Virtual Character Technologies Virtual character technologies are 3D images of person who can

25、interact online with computer users or customers. This character operates with dialup and broadband and will speak directly to customers.ICT Company could use this technology provide personal touch and can dealing with virtual animated characters in order to increase sales because the customers pref

26、er social interaction. This technology will have great contribution on improving marketing and customer service. Shopping Cart SoftwareSimilar to a visit to the supermarket, shopping cart service customers are able to go shopping online without leaving the office or home. This is a new method to go

27、shopping and convenient both customers and sellers.This technology could make ICT Company do business online. The company could sell financial service online and provides customer more purchase opportunity. This new shopping method allows manager easily to monitor the sales of its financial goods at

28、 any purchase stage. XML Web ServicesXML （Extendible Mark-up Language） is a way to creating a common computer language in a format that can be shared on the internet, intranet and other sources. Through the use of Mark-up Symbols, it is convenient to introduce the standardization information.The XML

29、 web service could help ICT Company provide rapid response to customer like the faster publishing of information to customers or suppliers, the faster reaction to customer needs and faster processing of orders over the internet. ConclusionThis report introduces different types of network system with

30、 its benefits and drawbacks. According to different situation of the company, ICT Company should choose different network topology.
