Hi,everybody. Overthepastcouplemonths,mostofthepoliticalheadlinesyou’vereadhaveprobablybeenaboutthegovernmentshutdown andthelaunchoftheAffordableCareAct(平价医疗法案). AndIknowthatmanyofyouhaverightlyneverbeenmorefrustratedwithWashington.

Butifyoulookbeyondthoseheadlines,therearesomegoodthingshappeninginoureconomy. Andthat’sbeenmytoppriority(优先考虑)sincethedayIwalkedintotheOvalOffice.

After decadesinwhichthemiddleclasswasworkingharderandharderjusttokeepup,andapunishingrecession(衰退)thatmadeitworse,wemadethetoughchoicesrequirednotjusttorecoverfromcrisis,buttorebuildonanewfoundationforstronger,moredurableeconomicgrowth.

Fiveyearslater,wehavefoughtourwayback. Ourbusinesseshavecreated7.8millionnewjobsinthepast44months.Another200,000Americanswentbacktoworklastmonth.

TheAmericanautoindustryhascomebackwithmorethan350,000newjobs–--jobsputtingoutandsellingthehigh-tech,fuel-efficientcarstheworldwantstobuy.Andthey’releadingthechargeinabusinessthathasaddedjobsforthefirsttimesincethe1990s–--abigreasonwhyourbusinessessellmoregoodsandservices“MadeinAmerica”thaneverbefore.

Wedecidedtostopouraddictiontoforeignoil. Andtoday,weproducemorerenewableenergythanever,morenaturalgasthananybody,andforthefirsttimeinnearly20years,Americanowproducesmoreoilthanwebuyfromothercountries.

Wedecidedtofixabrokenhealthcaresystem. Andeventhoughthetaskhasbeenrough,sofar,about500,000AmericansgainhealthcoveragestartingJanuary1st. Andbytheway,healthcarecostsaregrowingattheslowestratein50years.

Andonemorething:

Intheweeksahead, I’llkeeptalkingaboutmyplantobuildabetterbargainforthemiddleclass. Goodjobs. Agoodeducation. Achancetobuyahome,save,andretire. Andyes,thefinancialsecurityofaffordablehealthcare. AndI’lllookforanywillingpartnerswhowanttohelp.
