TheOfficialHarvardtourdepartsfromtheHarvardInformationCenterintheSmithCampusCenter.Thetourisstudent-ledandincludesanoutdoorwalkthroughHarvardYard,providingahistoryoftheuniversity,generalinformation,andauniqueviewonthestudent’sindividualexperience.Thetourisaroundonehourlong,andcompletelyfreeofcharge.

Tourregistrationisdoneinpersononafirst-come,first-servedbasis.Toursarecappedat35visitors.Currentlyweareonlyabletoadmitgroupsofupto14peopleonourfree,publictour.Ifyouhaveagroupof15ormore,reservationsarerequired.

Reservationsarerequiredfortoursof15ormorepeople,withanabsolutemaximumof125people.Werequestgroupstoscheduleatour2weeksahead.Pleasenote:

Ifyouareinterestedintouringthecampusonyourown,youmaywantaself-guidedwalkingtour.Thesetourpamphlets(小册子),offeredinninedifferentlanguages,canbepurchasedfromourofficewithaverysmallamount.

Youmayalsodownloadaudio(音频的)filesofhistoricalinformationoneachofthebuildingsinHarvardYard.Thesefiles,includinganaudiotour,canbeobtainedhereatnocharge.TheaudiotourisreadbycurrentHarvardstudentsandiscomposedoftracksdescribinglandmarksthroughoutHarvardYard.

Inseverepain,Irealizedwhathadhappened.Thehotwatermachinehadsuckedupajellyfish(水母)andpumpeditdirectlyintomysuit.WhenIhadscratchedwhatIthoughtwasanitch,Iwasactuallytouchingthejellyfish,anditspoisonoustentacles(触角)stungmeonthecrackofmybottom.

Iimmediatelyinformedthedivesupervisorofmyproblemoverthecommunicator.Hisinstructionswereunclearduetothefactthatheandfiveotherdiverswerealllaughingloudly.35minuteslater,Iarrivedatthesurface.Iwaswearingnothingbutmyhelmet.Andmybottomwasswollen.

Tigersharkscanbeprettylazy—somethingassimpleasaturtlenoticingasharkandturningawaycouldcausethesharknottobotherhuntingit.

“Stomachcontentanalysishasfoundtheirnormalpreyitems,suchasturtles,raysandfish,”Sammysaid.“Buthavealsofoundsomereallyinterestingthings,suchaslicenseplates,cansandnails.”
