Abstract:
Teachers'professionalidentityisoneofthemostimportantpsychologicalqualitiesregardingtakingupteachingprofession,theprofessionalidentityofmaleandfemalestudentsinteachingprofessionisinvestigatedinthispaperwhichchoosesNorthWestNormalUniversityasasample.Accordingtotheresultofquestionnairesurvey,thedifferenceofprofessionalidentitybetweenmaleandfemalestudentsarenotsignificantbutdoexist,andthereasonforsuchsituationwillbeanalyzedinthispaper.

1.Introduction
Professionalidentityistheconsistencyofpersonalviewsandattituderegardingprofessionalgoals,socialvaluesandexpectationandevaluationofsocietyforsuchoccupations.Themaindutyofteachersistoeducateandcultivatestudents,theirprofessionalidentityistheprimarilypremiseofgoodprofessionalethicsquality.Thestrongerfeelingofprofessionalidentityis,thebetterjobsatisfactionoftheteacherswillbe,subsequently,theywilldevotemoreenergytotheirjob,apleasantmoodaswellasconfidencewillmakethemfallinlovewiththeirjobsandgetridofpressuresaswell.Thestudentsinteachingprofessionarepotentialteachers,theextentoftheirprofessionalidentityexertsanconsiderableanddirectinfluenceontheiracademicperformanceandpsychologicalhealth,whatismore,italsohasaindirectimpactontheirintentionofleavingtheirjobsandthemethodsofeducatingchildrenorteenagers.
Femalestudentsaredefinitelydistinctwithmalestudentsincharacteristics.TheinvestigationsfromZhangfenzhi1,Wuxuzhao2andRaowei3bothtransparentlyindicatedthatthedegreeoffemalestudents’professionalidentityishigherthanthatofmalestudents.TheirresearchesrespectivelyfocusedonthestudentsfromHeNan,SiChuanandJiangXiprovinces.Topresentthedistinctionbetweenmaleandfemalestudentsinprofessionalidentity,thesurveyinthispaperisbasedonthestudentsfromNorthWestNormalUniversitywhichisthemosteminentnormalclassuniversitywiththerelativelyhighqualityofeducationandalargequantityofstudentsinGanSuprovince.
2.Method
Firstofall,literaturereview.Byconsultingandreviewingmanydocumentsinthepertinentfiled,aclearknowledgeofthestatusofprofessionalidentitywasgot,thenthedefinitionsanddimensionsofcurrentresearchwasevaluatedandthebackgroundofGanSuprovincewasprobedintoatthesametime.
Second,questionnairesurvey.Withundertakingthequestionnaireforstudentsinteachingprofessionaboutprofessionalidentity,andwithregardtothesituationofNorthWestNormalUniversity,ProfessionalIdentificationScaleforNormalStudents4(PISNS)wasusedinthispaper.Including12items,thePISNSchoosesthe5-pointscaleasametrictoestimatefourdifferentdimensionsthatareCareerAspiration&Expectation,CareerDesire,ProfessionalValuesandProfessionalEffectiveness.Asthescoreisfrom1to5,thedegreeofprofessionalidentityrangesfromlowtohigh,exceptforthe12thitemwhichisjustincontrasttoanyotheritems.
Third,statisticanalyses.Afterthequestionnairesurvey,twogroupsofdatafrommaleandfemalestudentswerecollectedtobeorganized,identified,summarizedandclassified.Tomakethedataexplicitandverifiable,SPSSwaschosentodescribethestatistic.
3.Result
Thissurveyobjectaretheundergraduatefromgrade1tograde4,andallstudentscomefromthemajorofChineselanguageandliterature,Ideologicalandpoliticaleducation,Chemistry,Mathematicsandappliedmathematics,computerscienceandtechnologywereselectedrandomlyasasample.Therewere192questionnairessentoutonline,and175ofwhichweretakenback.Whereas,163questionnaireswereprovedtobevalid,thustheratioofvaliditycameto93%,andtherewere89malestudentsand74femalestudentsincludedin.Thetablesofstatisticresultsareasfollows:

Asisshownabove,therearethenumberofdistributionbetweenmaleandfemaleintable1,thedescriptivestatisticofthewholesampleintable2,andtheindependentsamplet-testofdifferentgenderintable2.Itcanbeseenthattherearenosignificantdifferencesbetweenmaleandfemalestudents,nevertheless,femalestudents’scoresarehigherthanmalestudents’scoresindifferentdimensions.Duetothe5-pointscale,3isregardedasthereferencevalue.SowhatisobviousisthatthescoresinCareerDesireandProfessionalValuesofmalestudentislowerthan3,whilefemalestudentsgethigherscoresthan3exceptforCareerDesire.
4.Discussion
Totallyspeaking,noremarkablegapofscoresbetweenmaleandfemalestudents,andthedegreeofprofessionalidentityfromoverallsamplemanifeststhatallthestudentshaveastrongfeelingofprofessionalidentity.Butintermofthedistinguishbetweenmaleandfemalestudents,therearedifferentaspectsthatcountsinthisissue.
First,intraditionalbeliefs,whatChinesepeoplemaintainisthatfemalearemoresuitableforteachersinbothprimaryschoolandmiddleschool,andsoasisinsubstance,whichprobablyhasaimplicitinfluenceonundergraduates.
Second,comparedwithmale,femaledohavetheadvantageovermaleinpatience,lenience,thoroughmindandexquisiteexpressions.Soitisobviousthatcharacterisalsooneofthenotablefactswhichaccountsforfemales’strongerwillingtobeateacher.
Third,whenitcomestosexist,asamatteroffact,consideringtheabsolutereality,afemalewouldbefacedwithmorechallengesandlesschoicestogetajob.Conversely,itmightbeeasier,tosomeextent,forfemalesinteachingprofessiontogetajobthanmale.
Finally,becauseChineseeducationsystemisbasedonthepubliceducationnotprivateeducation,andtheschoolissupportedbythegovernment,soteachingislifelongjobnotatemporaryone.Foralargenumberoffemales,theytendtopursueformorestableworksandsalaries,thusthejobofteachingisfitforthemexactly.Butforfemales,stabilityisnotthefactwhichcountmost,theymaywantmorechallengesandfattersalaries,eventhoughtheworkishigh-risk,thehigh-yieldmakethemthinkitisworthytostrivefor.What’smore,teachingmajormaynotbethefirstchoicetheywantedtochoose,becauseitisdependsontheChineseEntranceExamination,besides,normalstudentsdonotneedtoaffordanytuitionfeesandotherexpensesforthewholefouryearsinChina,whichappealsincreasinglypoormalestudentstochoose.
