EDHEC-RISKINSTITUTEADMISSIONSPHILOSOPHY

ApplicantsfortheEDHEC-RiskInstitutePhDinFinanceshouldkeepinmindthatadmissiondecisionsaremadeonthebasisoftheapplicant'soverallprofileasreflectedinthecompletedapplicationpackage.

SuccessfulPhDapplicants,whiledisplayingawiderangeofeducationalbackgroundsandprofessionalexperiences,aredistinguishedbyacademicandprofessionalexcellence,superioranalyticalskills,interpersonalcompetencies,internationalawareness,provenmotivationtoundertaketheprogramme.Applicantswillalsoneedtodemonstratethecapacitytomakesignificantcontributionstotheprogramme’slearningenvironmentandthepotentialtosucceedasfinancescholarsoperatingwithinleadingresearchinstitutionsorpursuingseniorexecutivecareersinthefinancialindustry.

TheAdmissionsCommitteereliesheavilyontheprofiles,essays,recommendationlettersandresumethatarepartofeachcandidate'sapplicationfile.Pleasefillouteachprofilesheetcarefullyanddevotethetimeneededtowriteapersonalessay（profilesheetnumber8）thatprovidesafaithfulpictureofyourpersonalityandmotivation.

FluencyinEnglishisrequiredforEDHEC-RiskInstitute’sInternationalProgrammes.Therefore,certificatesortestscoresthatdemonstrateapplicants’Englishlanguageabilityareneededforadmission.AnumberofwellknowntestsordiplomasofEnglishmaybesenttotheAdmissionsOfficetosupportyourapplication;however,weencourageapplicantstousetheTOEFL,TOEIC,IELTS,orCambridgeEnglishExamsbecauseoftheirinternationalrecognition.ApplicantswithrecentUniversitydegreesfrominstitutionswherethecurriculumwastaughtexclusivelyinEnglishwillbegrantedwaivers.
