SamuelPepys,thefamouswriter,wroteaboutthefire.Peoplethrewtheirthingsintotheriver.Manypoorpeoplestayedintheirhousesuntilthelastmoment.Birdsfelloutoftheairbecauseoftheheat.

ThefirestoppedonlywhentheKingfinallyorderedpeopletodestroyhundredsofbuildingsinthepathsofthefire.Withnothinglefttoburn,thefirebecameweakandfinallydiedout.
