　　Whentheworldtellsyouthere'snowayyoucanrealizeyourdream,youhavetwochoices——

　　Fivefriendswhogrewuptogetherhadadream,adreameveryonesaidwasimpossible.Buttheychosetokeepmadetheimpossiblepossible,makingTaiwanesemusichistoryalongtheway.Indeed,they'restillgoing.

　　Mayday,afive-piecerockbandfromTaiwan,formedinaclassroominTaipeiin1997.They'dcomefromallcornersoftheanotherteenagerockband,buttheyworkedtirelesslyfor15yearsfromstreetperformancestopubs,toschoolcampusandontohugethewaytowhatmustcountasthecrowinggloryoftheircareers,threeunforgettablesold-outconcertsinBeijing'sBird'sNesttoanaudienceof'veconqueredAsia,constantlyevolvingtheirshowsandwherevertheygothecrowdsfollow.TheAsianmediacallsthemthe"KingsoftheRockConcert",andtheAmericanpresshasdubbedthem"theChineseBeatles",andforgoodreason.

Mythinkingisthatwhenfollowingthedream,weshouldn'tsayitmeanssomethingpersonally.However,whenthedreamcomestrue,whatthevalueisforthissocietyandforothers,wealwaystryhardtoseekwhichmeansnotonlywehavetoworkhard,butalsohavealittle"fearlessfoolspirit".Ithinkthesepast15yearsfromthefirstconcertuntilnow.Maydayhasalwaystriedtobringmorehappinesstoyoungpeople.ThemostimportantthingfornowisthattheyareexpandingthemselvesfromTaiwanandfromAsia.Theyarethekindofalsobringsthehappinesstheycreatetomoreandmorepeople.Itbringsresonancetoalltheaudiences.

　　Fromthebeginning,theirfamilieshopedtheywouldchooseadifferentpath.Tenyearsago,Taiwanesepeopledidn'tviewpopmusicasanappropriatecareer,itwasatbestanamusementorsomethingtodoaswellasyourdayjob.Comingfrommiddle-classTaiwanesefamilies,theirparentshopedtheywouldgotouniversityandpursueprofessionaljobsortakeoverthefamilybusinesses.Andtheycouldhave.Buttheuncertainroadprovedmoreattractiveandsotheytooktheirinstrumentsanddecidedtokeeprocking.

　　In1999,thegodfatherofChinesepopularmusicJonathanLeespottedthebandandsignedthemtohislabelRockRecords,releasingtheirfirstalbumthesameyear.Inthosedays,therewerenomainstreamrockbandsinTaiwan.Buttheirpositive,youthfulmusicgraduallybegantotakeoff,backedbyagruelingperformanceschedule,andendedupchangingtheveryfaceofrockmusicintheChinese-speakingworld.Neitherthebandnortheirmanagercouldbelieveit.Rockmusichadbeenanicheaffair.ButMaydaycreatedcatchy,beautifulmelodieswhichspoketopeople,andnowtheirsongsarestandardsforthenextgenerationlearningguitarandtakingtothestageforthefirsttime.Havingbeenstudentswithadreamthemselves,Mayday'smessageis"Ifwecandoit,socanyou."

　　Eachalbumistheresultoftheband'scollectivevisionandtheirmusicischaracterizedbyenergeticharmonies.Theyembodytheoneessentialelementinallsuccessfulrockbands:

　　XXannouncedMayday'sreturn.Despitethetwo-yearbreak,theirfanshadn'tforgetthemandindeedtheycamebackstrongerthaneverwiththeir[CityoftheSky]concertto40000fans.BreakingMichaelJackson'srecordforthebiggestsingleconcertinTaiwan.Fromthisconcerton,theyonlyhadtheirownrecordstobreak.

　　ByXX,MaydayhadalreadyreleasedfivealbumsinTaiwanandachievedhithertounheardofsalesforarockband,sotheyembarkedontheirfirstinternationaltour,takinginAmerica,China,Malaysia,JapanandHongKong.InXX,Maydaycelebratedthecompletionofthethenworld'stallestbuilding,Taipei101,withtheir[Topoftheword]concertinhomagetoTheBeatles'legendarylastconcertin1969——OntopoftheApplebuildinginLondon.

　　Realizingtheycouldn'tpossiblytoptheirsuccessinTaiwan,thebandturnedtoMainlandChina,wherethecultureshockthatensuedchallengedtheminawaythey'dneverexperiencedtheycrossoverintoadifferentcultureandmakeittheretooTheirsolutionwassimple:
