Traditionalresearchonmemoryhasfocusedontheadvantagesofrememberingeverything.Butlookingthroughyearsofrecentmemorydata,researchersfoundthattheneurobiologyofforgettingcanbejustasimportanttoourdecision-makingaswhatourmindschoosetoremember.

Makingintelligentdecisionsdoesn'tmeanyouneedtohavealltheinformationathand.Itjustmeansyouneedtoholdontothemostvaluableinformation.Andthatmeansclearingupspaceinyourmemorypalaceforthemostup-to-dateinformationonclientsandsituations.Ourbrainsdothisbycreatingnewneurons(神经元)inourhippocampus,whichhavethepowertooverwrite(重写)existingmemoriesthatareinfluencingourdecision-making.

Ifyouwanttoincreasethenumberofnewneuronsinourbrain’slearningregion,tryexercising.Someaerobicexerciselikejogging,powerwalkingandswimminghasbeenfoundtoincreasethenumberofneuronsmakingimportantconnectionsinourbrains.
