　vicepresidentjohnson,mr.speaker,mr.chiefjustice,presidenteisenhower,vicepresidentnixon,presidenttruman,reverendclergy,fellowcitizens,weobservetodaynotavictoryofparty,butacelebrationoffreedom--symbolizinganend,aswellasabeginning--signifyingrenewal,aswellaschange.forihaveswornibeforeyouandalmightygodthesamesolemnoathourforebearslprescribednearlyacenturyandthreequartersago.

　　theworldisverydifferentnow.formanholdsinhismortalhandsthepowertoabolishallformsofhumanpovertyandallformsofhumanlife.andyetthesamerevolutionarybeliefsforwhichourforebearsfoughtarestillatissuearoundtheglobe--thebeliefthattherightsofmancomenotfromthegenerosityofthestate,butfromthehandofgod.

　　wedarenotforgettodaythatwearetheheirsofthatfirstrevolution.letthewordgoforthfromthistimeandplace,tofriendandfoealike,thatthetorchhasbeenpassedtoanewgenerationofamericans--borninthiscentury,temperedbywar,disciplinedbyahardandbitterpeace,proudofourancientheritage--andunwillingtowitnessorpermittheslowundoingofthosehumanrightstowhichthisnationhasalwaysbeencommitted,andtowhichwearecommittedtodayathomeandaroundtheworld.

　leteverynationknow,whetheritwishesuswellorill,thatweshallpayanyprice,bearanyburden,meetanyhardship,supportanyfriend,opposeanyfoe,inordertoassurethesurvivalandthesuccessofliberty.

　thismuchwepledge--andmore.

　tothoseoldallieswhoseculturalandspiritualoriginsweshare,wepledgetheloyaltyoffaithfulfriends.united,thereislittlewecannotdoinahostofcooperativeventures.divided,thereislittlewecando--forwedarenotmeetapowerfulchallengeatoddsandsplitasunder.

　tothosenewstateswhomwewelcometotheranksofthefree,wepledgeourwordthatoneformofcolonialcontrolshallnothavepassedawaymerelytobereplacedbyafarmoreirontyranny.weshallnotalwaysexpecttofindthemsupportingourview.butweshallalwayshopetofindthemstronglysupportingtheirownfreedom--andtorememberthat,inthepast,thosewhofoolishlysoughtpowerbyridingthebackofthetigerendedupinside.

　tothosepeoplesinthehutsandvillagesacrosstheglobestrugglingtobreakthebondsofmassmisery,wepledgeourbesteffortstohelpthemhelpthemselves,forwhateverperiodisrequired--notbecausethecommunistsmaybedoingit,notbecauseweseektheirvotes,butbecauseitisright.ifafreesocietycannothelpthemanywhoarepoor,itcannotsavethefewwhoarerich.

　tooursisterrepublicssouthofourborder,weofferaspecialpledge--toconvertourgoodwordsintogooddeeds--inanewallianceforprogress--toassistfreemenandfreegovernmentsincastingoffthechainsofpoverty.butthispeacefulrevolutionofhopecannotbecomethepreyofhostilepowers.letallourneighborsknowthatweshalljoinwiththemtoopposeaggressionorsubversionanywhereintheamericas.andleteveryotherpowerknowthatthishemisphereintendstoremainthemasterofitsownhouse.

　tothatworldassemblyofsovereignstates,theunitednations,ourlastbesthopeinanagewheretheinstrumentsofwarhavefaroutpacedtheinstrumentsofpeace,werenewourpledgeofsupport--topreventitfrombecomingmerelyaforumforinvective--tostrengthenitsshieldofthenewandtheweak--andtoenlargetheareainwhichitswritmayrun.

　finally,tothosenationswhowouldmakethemselvesouradversary,weoffernotapledgebutarequest:

thatbothsidesbeginanewthequestforpeace,beforethedarkpowersofdestructionunleashedbyscienceengulfallhumanityinplannedoraccidentalself-destruction.

　wedarenottemptthemwithweakness.foronlywhenourarmsaresufficientbeyonddoubtcanwebecertainbeyonddoubtthattheywillneverbeemployed.

　butneithercantwogreatandpowerfulgroupsofnationstakecomfortfromourpresentcourse--bothsidesoverburdenedbythecostofmodernweapons,bothrightlyalarmedbythesteadyspreadofthedeadlyatom,yetbothracingtoalterthatuncertainbalanceofterrorthatstaysthehandofmankind’sfinalwar.

　soletusbeginanew--rememberingonbothsidesthatcivilityisnotasignofweakness,andsincerityisalwayssubjecttoproof.letusnevernegotiateoutoffear.butletusneverfeartonegotiate.

　letbothsidesexplorewhatproblemsuniteusinsteadofbelaboringthoseproblemswhichdivideus.

　letbothsides,forthefirsttime,formulateseriousandpreciseproposalsfortheinspectionandcontrolofarms--andbringtheabsolutepowertodestroyothernationsundertheabsolutecontrolofallnations.

　letbothsidesseektoinvokethewondersofscienceinsteadofitsterrors.togetherletusexplorethestars,conquerthedeserts,eradicatedisease,taptheoceandepths,andencouragetheartsandcommerce.

　letbothsidesunitetoheedinallcornersoftheearththecommandofisaiah--to“undotheheavyburdens...andtolettheoppressedgofree.”

　andifabeachheadofcooperationmaypushbackthejungleofsuspicion,letbothsidesjoinincreatinganewendeavor,notanewbalanceofpower,butanewworldoflaw,wherethestrongarejustandtheweaksecureandthepeacepreserved.

　allthiswillnotbefinishedinthefirst100days.norwillitbefinishedinthefirst1,000days,norinthelifeofthisadministration,norevenperhapsinourlifetimeonthisplanet.butletusbegin.

　inyourhands,myfellowcitizens,morethaninmine,willrestthefinalsuccessorfailureofourcourse.sincethiscountrywasfounded,eachgenerationofamericanshasbeensummonedtogivetestimonytoitsnationalloyalty.thegravesofyoungamericanswhoansweredthecalltoservicesurroundtheglobe.

　nowthetrumpetsummonsusagain--notasacalltobeararms,thougharmsweneed;notasacalltobattle,thoughembattledweare--butacalltobeartheburdenofalongtwilightstruggle,yearinandyearout,“rejoicinginhope,patientintribulation”--astruggleagainstthecommonenemiesofman:

tyranny,poverty,disease,andwaritself.

　canweforgeagainsttheseenemiesagrandandglobalalliance,northandsouth,eastandwest,thatcanassureamorefruitfullifeforallmankind?

willyoujoininthathistoriceffort?

　inthelonghistoryoftheworld,onlyafewgenerationshavebeengrantedtheroleofdefendingfreedominitshourofmaximumdanger.idonotshankfromthisresponsibility--iwelcomeit.idonotbelievethatanyofuswouldexchangeplaceswithanyotherpeopleoranyothergeneration.theenergy,thefaith,thedevotionwhichwebringtothisendeavorwilllightourcountryandallwhoserveit--andtheglowfromthatfirecantrulylighttheworld.

　andso,myfellowamericans:

asknotwhatyourcountrycandoforyou--askwhatyoucandoforyourcountry.

　myfellowcitizensoftheworld:

asknotwhatamericawilldoforyou,butwhattogetherwecandoforthefreedomofman.

　finally,whetheryouarecitizensofamericaorcitizensoftheworld,askofusthesamehighstandardsofstrengthandsacrificewhichweaskofyou.withagoodconscienceouronlysurereward,withhistorythefinaljudgeofourdeeds,letusgoforthtoleadthelandwelove,askinghisblessingandhishelp,butknowingthathereonearthgod’sworkmusttrulybeourown.

尊敬的各位领导、各位代表、同志们！

　　金鸡报晓，人勤春早，阳春三月，生机盎然。

　　这两天，我镇“两会”代表，喜气洋洋，欢聚一堂，共商××发展大计，共谋今年工作举措，看大会的各项报告，听代表的小组讨论，到处洋溢着和谐稳定，加快发展的良好氛围；到处体现着团结拼搏，务实创新的××精神，××这块发展的热土，正在播种新的希望。

　　承蒙各位代表的厚爱，选举我为人民政府副镇长，从获得的一张张选票上，我看到了各位代表对我的莫大信任，更感到了××人民对我的殷切期望，在此，我表示由衷的感谢！

我将以今天为新的起点，在今后的岁月中，做到以下三点：

　　一是注重学习，学习××历史，学习××人民，学习身边的人。

通过学习不断提高自身素质，增强服务群众、奉献社会的本领；二是务实工作，注重实际，讲求实效，努力做好党委、政府分工的工作；三是广交朋友，奉行诚实做人，与人为善，力求以良好的人际关系，推进各项工作。

我恳请各位领导、各位代表平时对我要多多支持、多多监督：

支持我多做有益于××经济和社会发展的事；支持我多做有益于塑造××形象的事；监督我依法办事，勤政为民；监督我淡泊名利，廉洁奉公；帮助我做一个能够受桥头人民欢迎的人。

　　春天，鸟语花香，景色怡人；春天，播种希望，更催人奋进！

我将在党委、政府的领导下，自觉接受人大和代表的监督，紧紧依靠镇、村干部，按照两会制定的工作目标，与大家一道，齐心协力，扎实工作，为建设美好、和谐的新桥头，做出应有的贡献！

尊敬的各位领导，同志们：

　　承蒙组织的信任，让我担任县教育局党总支副书记、副局长，在这非常的时刻，说心里话是压力多于欣喜，责任甚于欣慰，多年的教育工作经历，使我深知担任县级教育行政领导这副担子的份量与责任，更清楚它的意义。

它饱含着县委、政府的高度信任，寄托着在坐每一位同志的殷切希望。

过去的几年，在历届县委、政府的高度重视下，通过几任教育局领导班子的扎实工作和全县教育系统广大干部职工的共同努力，我县的教育工作取得了新的成绩。

要使全县教育工作不断的有新突破，我深知肩上责任的重大，但既然组织对我如此的信任，我将义不容辞地承担起这个角色理应承担的责任和义务，切实履行好职责，殚精竭虑干好工作，勤奋学习，不辱使命！

在今后的工作中我将做到：

　　一、加强学习，不断提高自身综合素质。

认真学习政治理论和教育教学管理知识，不断提高自身政治理论素质，科学决策水平，依法行政水平和分析问题，处理问题的能力，增强做好教育工作的积极性和主动性。

　　二、认真贯彻执行民主集中制，尊重团结班子的每一名成员，做到班子成员之间团结协作，互相信任、互相尊重、互相支持，取长补短，真心实意地与其他同志合作共事，同舟共济，增强全局意识和大局观念，最大限度地调动每一位班子成员的积极性，发挥出班子的最佳效能。

　　三、转变作风，重视打造求真务实、廉洁、高效的班子新形象。

切实深入教育工作第一线，找准工作着力点和突破口，狠抓教学质量和日常管理，向管理要质量，向教研要效果，努力提升育人水平，执著追求成才效果。

力争通过几年的努力，使全县的教师逐渐成为素质高、教学过硬、责任心强的职工队伍，让质量成为广大教师为之骄傲的资本，让校园成为教师创业的乐园。

　　同时，提三点希望，与全县教育管理工作者共勉：

　　一是立足现实，总结经验，转变作风抓管理。

面对我县教育工作中存在的薄弱环节，全县广大教育工作者，特别是在坐的每一位同志要认真分析梳理工作中的不利因素和有利条件，进一步总结经验，研究解决的办法和措施，切实转变工作作风，充分调动广大教师的工作热情和工作积极性，做好本职工作，一心一意谋求全县教育事业发展的良策。

　　二是抓住机遇，乘势而上，巩固成果促发展。

在县委、政府的坚强领导和高度重视下，在全县“普六”、“普九”取得成果的基础上，我们要不失时机地抓住有利机遇，打牢基础，巩固现有成果，努力提升教育教学质量，促进全县教育教学工作的持续、稳步、健康发展。

　　三是加强领导，同心同德，围绕教学抓质量。

××年是加快发展、承上启下的关键之年，我们必须清醒地认识到教育教学工作面临着新的机遇，同时也将遇到新的困难和问题，但我们相信在县委、政府的正确领导下，团结一班子人，齐心协力，切实加强对教育教学工作的领导，依法行使行政职能，认真履行职责，与全体教职工一道同心同德，克服困难，勤奋工作，围绕教学抓管理，围绕教学抓质量，努力使全县的教育教学水平有一个新的突破。
