二、内容摘要

20世纪30、40年代,部分女性已经从沉睡中醒来,用文学创作的方式表达各自不同的女性主义思想。

本文尝试从女权运动的发生与发展对女性主义文学产生的影响着手,分析具有代表性的美国女作家玛格丽特.米切尔与中国女作家张爱玲作品中的女性主义文学思想。

从作品中女主人公的性格差异来剖析不同文化背景下的女性意识的表现。

在比较中透视女权主义思想对中西方现代生活的影响。

Abstract:

During1930sand1940s,somewomendelivertheirfeministthoughtsthroughliterarycreation.Thispaperattemptstobeginwiththeinfluenceswhichproducedbytheoccurrenceanddevelopmentoffeministmovementonfeminineliterature,andtriestoanalyzethedifferentfeministthoughtintheworksofMargaretMitchellinAmericaandEileenChanginChina.Theheroine’sdispositiondifferencessymbolizetheperformanceoffeminineawarenessunderthedifferentculturalbackground,andfindtheeffectwhichproducedbyfeministthoughtonmodernsocietyinchinaandwesterncountriesthroughsuchcomparison.

0.Introduction

ThemainpurposeofFeministmovementistogettheequalrightswithmen,andthenimprovethesocialstatusandlivingconditionsofwomen.It’salsonamedwomen’sliberationmovement.Feministsinsistthatthereshouldbeanequalrightaboutpolitical,economicsandculture,etc.betweenmenandwomen.In1930s,womenawareoftheirown“withoutme”state,theybegantoexpresstheyunderstandandexperiencetothesociety,humanbeingsandthemselves.EileenChang,Margaret.Mitchellbecamethefeminismrepresentativeofthisera,“LoveoftheCity”and“GonewiththeWind”becameaclassicofmodernliterature.Theideaoffeminismisexpressedinthesetwoworks.Thoughtheyweregrowingupindifferentcountries,theirworksaretoconveythedesireandrequirementofwomen,andadmirethevalueofwomen.Inthisarticle,Ihavemadeacomparisonabouttheideaoffeminismwhichisexpressedinboth“LoveoftheCity”and“GonewiththeWind”,andtrytostartwiththeeffectofthefeministliteraturethatmadebytheoccurrenceanddevelopmentofthefeministmovement,analyzedtheliteratureideaoffeminismexistedinthetwoworks.Fromthecharacterdifferencebetweenthesetwoheroines,Ihavemadeananalysisabouttherepresentationoffeminineconsciousnessunderthedifferentcultureenvironment.

1.FeministmovementintheUnitedStates

1.1Overviewaboutthehistoryoffeministmovement

Thewesternfeminismmainlyexperiencedtworevolutions:

Thefirsttimewasinthelate18thandearly19thcentury.UndertheinfluenceofFrenchbourgeoisrevolution,womenbegantoleavetheirhomesforparticipatinginvigoroussocialrevolution.Theawakeningoffeministconsciousness,makingfeministideasquicklyspreadthroughouttheWesternworld.

Influencedbythetwoscientificandtechnologicalrevolutionsandtwoworldwars,especiallytheimpactoftheSecondWorldWarafterthemid-20thcentury,theWesternfeministmovementhasclimax.ThesecondwaveoffeminismfromtheUnitedStatesandquicklyspreadtoothercountriesinNorthAmericaandEurope.Itinheritstheideaoffeminismhasalwaysbeenagainstthetraditionalinequalitybetweenmenandwomenagainstmen,discriminationagainstwomenandgenderoppression,butwhat’sdifferentwiththefirstwaveofisthatfeministcriticismnolongersimplypointingthefingerofblamemen,butbegantoreflectonandself-criticism.

AstothefeminismofUnitedStates,whatwearefamiliarwithistheblackwomen’sliberationmovement.Whitewomenalsofightforelectoralrights,politicalparticipationandthesamerightsasman.Thesesharedtheoppressedandtheircampaigntomakethetraditionalfeministawareof:

theirgenderandidentityisnotthemostimportant,norisitunique,whatreallymattersistherightsofgenderequality.Theawakeningoffeministconsciousnesshelpthemtowinmorerightsandopportunities,theyoccupiesaplaceinthepolitical,economic,andculturalfields.

1.2TheimpactofFeminismonAmerica

TheappearanceanddevelopmentoffeministmovementhasmuchinfluenceonAmericanliterature,theriseofwomen’sliteratureisconfirmedbythis,womansuffereddiscriminationbecauseoftheirgender,andtheirspecialneedsarestillnotbemet,andinordertomeetthesespecialneeds,theyneedsinnovationintheruleofsocial,economicandpolitical,Astheirliteraturereflectedthisdemandhead.ThefeministmovementmakingtheU.S.literaryscenealive,therehaveappearedagroupofwriterslovestothinkthatrepresentedbyMargaret.Mitchell.Intheireyes,Americansocietyhasbecomeverycomplicated,andthevaluesareconfused.Theygenerallyfeelthatdonotknowhowtoexplainthisreality,sotheyadoptedbizarre,fantasy,exaggeratedwaytoreproductionthechaos,terrorandmadnessoflife.

2.TheriseanddevelopmentoffeminisminChina

2.1Blankperiod

BeforeWesternfeministideascameintoChina,therehavebeenalmostthousandsofyears.AlthoughtheChinesehistoryhasemergedmanyoutstandingwomen,therearenotsofierce,wide-rangingimplicationsoffeministthoughtlikewesterncountries.Therefore,wecanregarditastheinterregnumoffeministthoughtduringthislongperiod.

2.2Theintroductionofphase

WhenwesternfeministthoughtenteredintoChinaforthefirsttime,Chinaisexperiencingafeudalliberationmovement.Intheearly20thcentury,theNewCultureMovementhasinjectedalotoffreshairintoChinesesociety.TheChinesewomen’sliteratureoftheNewLiteratureMovementdevelopedaslogantomakeresponseto“personalityliberation”,theypursuethelibertyoftheirownmarriage,oradvocatedlovesupreme,orjoinafull-fledgedsocialrevolutionwhichobviouslyreflectedthatera.

2.3Variationperiod

ThefeministthoughtwasintroducedtoChinainearly20thcentury,itbeganaspecial“localization”ofthevariationafterexperiencingthenationaldemocraticrevolution,feministsthoughtdeviatedfromitsoriginalpurposeforaverylongperiodoftime.

TheoppositesideofthestruggleforChinesewomen’sliberationmovementinthe20thcenturyisnottheinequalitybetweenmenandwomenonpolitical,economic,culturalhegemony,butthreegreatmountains:

imperialism,feudalismandbureaucrat-capitalism,whichpressedalltheChinesepeople.Therefore,theadvocatorsandleadersoftheChinesewomen’smovementarenotwomenthemselves,buttheoppositesex-men.

2.4Developmentperiod

Chinahasgraduallyreintegratedwiththeworld,afterthereformingandopeningupinthe1980s.Therightsofwomengraduallylosttoacertainextentinpoliticalandlegalprotection.TheGovernmentimplementedpolicieswhichisbasedonthestatusofmentoprotectwomen,buttheproblemsoftheirpoorself-independence,consciousnessandsenseofcommunitygraduallyexposedunderthelooseningofthecontrolofthewholecountry.

3.Thedifferencesoffeminismthoughtbetween“LoveoftheCity”and“GonewiththeWind”

3.1TheFeminismThoughtin“LoveoftheCity”

In1940s,severalmodernwomenhadwakenedup,andsparenoeffortstogetawayfromtheshacklesoffeudalfamiliestoseekafreeandbrightlife.However,it’sdifficultforthemtogetridofsocialdiscriminationandpersecution.BaiLiusu,forexampleisarepresentativeinEileenChang’sarticle.Butthemoreimportantthingisherrealizationoffemaleawarenessthatdenyanarrangedfate.Inourtradition,womenarelivinginapatriarchalsociety.Thesocietydidnotrequirethemtohavemuchknowledge,SocialMoralandethical.BaiLiusuwhoisinthe“LoveoftheCity”didnottakethewaythatthesocialmoralityandethicsrequired,differentfromthosesubmissivewoman,Liumadearesistance.

WhetherthewomencanliberatethemselvesisalldependoniftheyhaveanEconomicindependence.Thewomenhasbeensuppressedanddiscriminatedforalongtimethattheyareconfusedabouttheirowngenderrolesandresistance,alargenumberofwomenwerenotstillrealizedthattheyshouldliberatethemselvesfromthegenderratherthanaccepttheliberation.BaiLiusuisagoodexample,inthefrontoftraditionalethicsandmorals,sheisawareofherpositionandtrytochangeit,butwhensheisfightagainsttheethics,shemakeamistakeagain,andthenbecomeasubsidiaryofamanatlast.

3.2TheFeminismThoughtin“GonewiththeWind”
