Itisn'tveryold.AftertheSecondWorldWaralotofpeoplefromJamaicaandothercountriesintheCaribbean,whichusedtobeBritishcolonies,cametoLondonlookingforwork.Buttherewasn'tacarnivalinLondon,theonlyfestivalwasChristmas.ButinJamaicacarnivalisthemostimportantfestival.AndJamaicanslivingherereallyfelttheneedforacarnival.Sointhe1960stheyhadthefirstone.Mygrandfatherwasthere!

Itwasverysmallatfirst,butitgrew,andnowthereareusuallymorethanamillionpeople.
