ThomasAlvaEdisonwasawardedmorepatentsoninventionsthananyotherAmerican.Whenhediedin1931,Americanswonderedhowtheycouldbestshowtheirrespectforhim.

Onesuggestionwasthatthenationobserveaminuteortwooftotalblackout.Allelectricpowerwouldbeshutoffinhomes,streets,andfactories.
