Forthenewstudy,theteamlookedatthedeathratesofmorethan100,000womenbetweentheyears2000and2008.Thentheresearcherscomparedthedeathratesofthesewomentotheplantsaroundtheirhomes.Theresearchersalsoconsideredotherthings,suchastheageofthewomen,moneytheyearnandrace.Theyalsolookedatwhetherornotthewomensmoked.

Thestudyfoundthatthedeathrateamongwomenwholivedinthegreenestspaceswas12%lowerthanthosefromtheleastgreenareas.Theresearchersweresurprisedtofindsuchastrongconnectionbetweenhighvegetationlevelsandlowdeathrates.
