c.IftheUnitedStatesbuys10millioncarsfromCanadaandCanadacontinuestoconsume10millioncars,thenCanadawillneedtoproduceatotalof20millioncars.SoCanadawillbeproducingattheverticalinterceptoftheproductionpossibilitiesfrontier.ButifCanadagets20bushelsofwheatpercar,itwillbeabletoconsume200millionbushelsofwheat,alongwiththe10millioncars.ThisisshownaspointBinthefigure.Canadashouldacceptthedealbecauseitgetsthesamenumberofcarsand50millionmorebushesofwheat.

b.IfEnglandandScotlanddecidetotrade,ScotlandwillproducesweatersandtradethemforsconesproducedinEngland.Atradewithapricebetween20and50sconespersweaterwillbenefitbothcountries,asthey’llbegettingthetradedgoodatalowerpricethantheiropportunitycostofproducingthegoodintheirowncountry.
