Psychologiststellusthattherearefourbasicstagesthathumanbeingspassthroughwhentheyenterandliveinanewculture.Thisprocess,whichhelpsustodealwithcultureshock,isthewayourbrainandourpersonalityreacttothestrangenewthingsweencounterwhenwemovefromoneculturetoanother.

Thethirdstageiscalledthe"adjustmentstage".Thisiswhenyoubegintorealizethatthingsarenotsobadinthehostculture.Yoursenseofhumourusuallybecomesstrongerandyourealizethatyouarebecomingstrongerbylearningtotakecareofyourselfinthenewplace.Thingsarestilldifficult,butyouarenowasurvivor!

Thefourthstagecanbecalled“ateaseatlast”.Nowyoufeelquitecomfortableinyournewsurroundings.Youcancopewithmostproblemsthatoccur.Youmaystillhaveproblemswiththelanguage,butyouknowyouarestrongenoughtodealwiththem.
