1Introduction

1.1GeneralInformation

Thison-sitetrainingmanualisashortintroductioninDCfilterequipmentanditscontrolandprotection.Everyitem,thatismentionedinthison-sitetrainingmanualisdescribedindetailintheoperationandmaintenancemanualslistedbelow.

Thison-sitetrainingmanualwillnotdealwithanymeasuringdeviceoutsidetheDCfilterdesignationlocation.Thissubjectisdescribedintheon-sitetrainingmanualbelongingtotheseitems.

1.2DCFilters–GeneralDescription

FortheTianGuangHVDCTransmissionProjectsixDCfilterbanksareprovided.Oneverysitethreefiltersarelocated.Twoofthethreefilterbanksarethestandardfilters,oneforeachpole.Thethirdfilterisredundant.Itcanberemoteswitchedtothedesiredpolebytheoperator.

AllthreeDCfilterbanksareequippedwithcomponentsofsameratings,soallthebankscanbeseenaselectricallysame.Eachfilterbankconsistsofadoubletunedpassivepartandaremovableactivepartthatistunedforsomeselectedharmonics.Tousethedcfilterwithorwithouttheactivepartithastobeconfiguredpriortoinsertion.

EachfilterbankisequippedwithitsownC+Pmodule.Thismoduleisalso,apartfromtheswitchingdevices,thehousingforthecomponentsoftheactivepart.

1.4.1IGBTConverterCubicle+S1

TheIGBTconverterishousedinaStandard8MFSIEMENScubicle.Inadditionthecubiclehasarooftopwithfansforforcedcooling.The(main)componentsdescribedinthefollowingareinstalled:

∙semi-controlledthree-phasethyristor/diodebridge(3units–A41,-A43,-A45):

rectifierfor490 VACpowersupply

∙PCCmodule–A4:

pre-chargecontrolboardfortherectifier

1.4.2ElectronicSwitchCubicle+S2

TheelectronicswitchishousedinhousedinaStandard8MFSIEMENScubicle.Itisrealisedwithamodified3phaseSITORthyristorassembly(Series6QG35)ofSIEMENSmanufacturing.Theoriginalsurgesuppressercircuitofeachthyristorpairhasbeenremovedandanewcircuit(commonforallthreethyristorpairs)hasbeenestablishedinthecubiclebelowtheSITORassembly.

Twothyristorpairsareusedfornormaloperation.Inadditionapassivethyristor-firingmoduleisinstalled.Thisisconnectedtothethirdthyristorpair.IncasemalfunctionofthecontroloftheSITORand/ortheIGBTconverteranovervoltageoftheDClinkoftheIGBTconvertercanoccur.AnovervoltagedetectioncircuitattheDClinktriggersthispassivethyristor-firingmodule.ItwillbypasstheIGBTconverterbyfiringthethirdthyristorpairbeforeanimpermissibleharmfulovervoltageisreached.

PleasenotethattheSITORassemblyhasbeenmodifiedandthereforenotallinformationwithintheoperationmanualisvalid.The(main)installedcomponentsarelistedbelow:

TheelectronicswitchisconnectedtotheoutputvoltageterminalsoftheIGBTconvertercubicle+S1andtheLVsideoftheIGBTconvertertransformer–T11.DuringinsertandremovesequenceoftheactivepartandwhiletheactivepartisinsertedbuttheIGBTinverterisnotoperatingbecauseofanyreason,theelectronicswitchisfired.Sothecurrentinthelowvoltagesideoftheactivepartisflowingthroughtheelectronicswitch.ThisprotectstheIGBTinverterfromovercurrents.

1.4.3ControlandProtectionCubicle

TheDCfilterprotectionandtheactivepartcontrolarehousedinadoublesizeStandard8MFSIEMENScubicle.TheC+Pisrealisedwiththemulti-microprocessorsystemSIMADYND.Thesystemsareinstalledinseparatesidesofthedoublesizecubicleandareelectricallyandmechanicallydecoupledenablingrepairsinafaultysystemwithoutdisturbingthehealthysystem.
