Patriotismmeansloveforone’scountry.Itmakesonereadytosacrificeone’sownlifeforone’scountry,andtodomanyotherdeedswhichcanbringbenefitstohispeople.Itseffectisverygreatwhenitisexercisedbyallthepeopleofacountry.IthinkpatriotismisthemostimportantthingIshouldlearnacollege,becauseitmakesourcountrystrong,andherhistoryglorious.Italsoimprovesaman’scharacterandsecuresforhimawidespreadfame.

Toloveourcountry,toworksoastomakeherrich,tosupporthergovernment,toobeyherlaw,topayfairtaxesintohertreasury,totreatourfollow-citizensaswewishtobetreatedourselves–thisistobearealChinesepatriot.

Ifthepeopleofacountryarenotpatriotic,thecountrymustbeveryweak.Historytellsussomecountriesofancienttimeswere,owingtolackofpatriotism,conqueredbyotherpeoplesandthepeopleoftheconqueredcountriesweremadeslavesunder.SopatriotismisthemostimportantthingIthinkIshouldlearnatcollege.

Theheroandcelebrityarebothfamouspeople.however,theyarenotofthesamekind.thereareseveralwaystodistinguishthem.

First,aherobecomesfamousbecauseofhisuncommoncourage,achievements,andself-sacrificemademostoftenforthebenefitofothers.Incontrast,acelebritybecomesfamousbecauseofmuchpublicity.

Second,tobecomeahero,oneneedsaccomplishment,buttobecomeacelebrity,oneonlyneedsluck.theherowasdistinguishedbyhisaccomplishment;thecelebritybyhisimageandtrademark.

Finally,thereisanotherdistinction:

heroesinspirerespect;celebritiesinspireenvy.themainreasonisthatthecelebritiesarelikecommonpeopleexceptfortheattentiontheygetfromthemedia,andmanypeoplebelievethattheycouldbecomeanothercelebritywithgoodluck.

 

3.WhydoAmericansgenerallyvaluetime?

AlsoAmericandowhattheycantosavetime.theyproducealotoflabour-savingdevicessuchaschothesanddish-washers;theyrapidlycommunicatethroughphonecall,telexande-mailandcutdownonpersonalcontacts.
