DoyoubelieveinsupermanIbelieveeveryonewillsay“NO”becausethereisnosupermaninthecanbesickortiredmuchworkinourlivescanevendriveus’swhatIamtalkingaboutyouarereallyintrouble,what’syourchoices,TeamworkorIndependence  Inmyopinion,itishardforpeopletoaccomplishtheirtasksiftheyworkitisunavoidabletomeetsomedifficultiesduringtheprocess,andyouhavetofindthesolutionandinformationallbycourseitwilltakeyouplentyoftimeandifyouworkinateam,thingswillbechangedobviously.  Weallknowthattwoheadsarebetterthanteamworkcangathermoreinformationthanindividualteammatescanexchangetheirexperience

andideasoftensothattheefficiencyoftheworkcanbewillworkinhighspiritbecausetheycanbeinchargeoftheirfavoriteparts.  ItisjustlikethisEnglishworkinteamtoprepareforcanlookatthepicturesonthewereworkingtheworkwasveryhardbutweweresmiling,becausewefeltdidtryhisorherbest,andweenjoyedworkingwitheachpowerofteamworkkeptthetirednessawayfromtellyouthetrueth,wewerejustlikeplayingagamewhendoingthenowIwanttoannouncethat:

Teamsoffourhavetobuildthetallestfree-standingstructureoutof20sticksofspaghetti,oneyardoftape,oneyardofstringanda

marshmallow.Themarshmallowhastobeontop.And,thoughitseemsreallysimple,it'sactuallyprettyhardbecauseitforcespeopletocollaborateveryquickly.Andso,Ithoughtthiswasaninterestingidea,andIincorporateditintoadesignworkshop.Anditwasahugesuccess.Andsincethen,I'veconductedabout70designworkshopsacrosstheworldwithstudentsanddesignersandarchitects,eventheCTOsoftheFortune50,andthere'ssomethingaboutthisexercisethatrevealsverydeeplessonsaboutthenatureofcollaboration,andI'dliketosharesomeofthemwithyou.  1:

01So,normally,mostpeoplebeginbyorientingthemselvestothetask.Theytalkaboutit,theyfigureoutwhatit'sgoingtolooklike,theyjockeyforpower.Thentheyspendsometimeplanning,organizing,theysketchandtheylayoutspaghetti.Theyspendthemajorityoftheirtimeassemblingthesticksintoever-growingstructures.Andthenfinally,justasthey'rerunningoutoftime,someonetakesoutthemarshmallow,andthentheygingerlyputitontop,andthentheystandback,and--ta-da!
