BorninCharleston,SouthCarolina,KaiyaSimmons,14,movedtoMillerPlaceattheageof3.AninthgraderatMissPorterSchoolinFarmington,Connecticut,Kaiyasayssheenjoysacting,artandscienceandiscurrentlystudyingenvironmentalscience.“Itisfunlearningabouttheenvironmentanddifferentwaystohelpprotectit,”Kaiyasays,adding,“Iamalsolearningdifferenttechniquestoimprovemyactingonstageandinfilm.”Afterhighschool,KaiyahopestoattendYaleUniversityandundertakeacareerasadoctor.

“Wepredictadropintotalfoodproductionof40percentunderafullyorganicfarmingprocess,comparedtoconventionalfarming,ifwekeeptothesamenationaldiet,”DrAdrianWilliams,leadauthorandreaderinAgri-EnvironmentalSystemsatCranfieldUniversity,saidinastatement.“Thisresultsfromlowercropquantity,becauseoutputislimitedbyalowersupplyofnitrogen,whichismainlyfromothercropsorsolidwastefromcattleonthegrassland.”
