1.0Introduction
Objectives
BP’sprogramforthetestingoftheHighPressure/HighTemperatureWellN?
2/7-29requires
theuseofatemporarywelltestsystemonboardthejackup,MærskGuardian.Thissystemwillbeusedtosatisfyseveralobjectives:
1.Toconductalloperationsinasafe,efficientandenvironmentallyacceptablemanner.
2.Toobtainhighqualitydatacommensuratewiththeeconomicpotentialofthe
discovery,specifically:
•Todeterminethemobilefluidtypeandobtainqualitysurfacefluidsamplesfor
PVTanalysis.
•Tomeasureformationpermeability,skinandproductivityindex.
•Toconfirm/determineinitialreservoirpressure.
•Todetermineflowrates,surfacetemperaturesandpressuresatseveralchokesizes.
•Todeterminethemaximumflowratewithinthetemperaturelimitations.
Theequipmentconfigurationofthissystemwillbesimilartothatusedinnormalexplorationwelltesting,butinordertomaximizethepressuredrawdownontheformation,thesurfaceequipmenttemperatureratinghasbeenupgradedtoAPIClassXstandard.Thelocationoftheequipment,or“welltestarea”,onboardMÆRSKGUARDIANissituatedonthePortsidedeck.

Design
Thedesignofthissystemincludesthecapabilityoftestinghighpressure/highbottomholetemperaturewell.Thesurfaceequipment(EZ-valve,lubricatorvalve,flowhead,heatexchanger,chokemanifold,andtheirassociatedpipework)willhaveamaximumworkingpressureof12,750psiatamaximumworkingtemperatureof350ºF(APIClassXstandard).Theinstallationofaheatexchangerupstreamofthechokemanifoldprovidestheopportunitytocoolthewelleffluentusingseawater,shouldtheexpectedtemperaturebeexceeded.Thefacilityalsoexiststocoolthefluiddownstreamofthechokemanifoldbyutilizingasecondheatexchanger.Thisheatexchangercanalsobeusedforheatingbychangingthethroughputfromseawatertosteam.Equipmentdownstreamofthesteamexchangerhasbeenupgradedtooperateattemperaturesupto250DegF.
Asimulationofthesystemperformancehasbeencarriedbycalculatingincurredback-pressureatcriticalpointsintheprocess,usingthe“Weymouth”formula,basedonasystemthroughput
ofthemaximumanticipatedgasandcondensaterates.Similarly,systempressure-reliefcapabilityundertheseconditions,hasbeenassessed,andpressure-reliefventlinesdesignedaccordingly.Theoverallsystemcapabilitytocopewithconceivable“undesirableevents”has
beenassessedusingguidelinesdetailedinAPIRP14C.
FulldetailsofthesystemdesignspecificationarecontainedinSection2.
Operation
ThissystemhasbeendesignedtocomplywithbothBPandSchlumbergeroperatingprocedures,andtobeoperatedbySchlumbergerwelltestingpersonnel.Noconsiderationhasbeenmadeforoperationbyotherparties.ManninglevelsforthesurfacetestingareintendedtocomprisefourSchlumbergerwelltestingpersonnelpertwelvehoursofoperationandoneoverallsupervisor.Shouldadditionalspecializedequipmentorworkberequiredtobedone,manninglevelsmaybereviewed.SpecificrecommendedproceduresforthisprojectareincludedinSection4.

SafetyAnalysisFunctionEvaluation(S.A.F.E.)
Thesafetyanalysisisperformedbyutilizationofasafetyanalysischecklist(SAC),asafetyanalysistable(SAT)andsafetyanalysisfunctionevaluationchart(SAFE).
TheinstallationhasonabasisofthisundergoneaHazopandOperations(HAZOP)studyinconjunctionwiththecustomer.
TheSACdeterminessafetyrequirementforeachlinesegmentandunitintheprocesssystem,recommendedinAPIRP14C.
TheSATgivesthecontrollingandpreventiveactionstobeperformedinordertosafeguardeachcomponentandthesystem.
TheSAFEshowstheoverallsafetyandcontrolsystemconceptandtheinteractionwiththewellheadsafetycontrolsystem.

Pre-jobpreparationinthebase
AlltheequipmentandsurfacetestingequipmentshallbeoperationallycheckedandpressuretestedinaccordancewiththeirrespectiveFITandTRIMprocedures.
Allinstrumentationshallbemastercalibratedandachecklistlogged.
ForallthemajoritemstheHistoryCardmustbecompleted.
Priortoshippingtheequipmentwillundergoaninspectionbytherelevantcertifyingauthority.
Offshore
Alltheequipmentuponarrivalatthewellsitemustundergoaninitialinspectiontocheckfordamageandtoensureitisaccountableasperthejobpackinglistanddeliverytickets.
Allequipmentshouldbeunloadedandoperationallycheckedasperguidelinesofthefieldoperatinghandbooksandmanuals.
Acompletesafetyauditofthesitemustbemade,withalistofanypotentialhazardshighlightedanddrawnup.ThesemustbediscussedwiththeBPandrigrepresentativeswiththeviewtoeradicatingpotentialandtheexistinghazards.
AsafetymeetingshallbeconductedinconjunctionwithBPNorwaywhichallsupervisoryandessentialpersonnelmustattendtodiscussthefollowing:
a)Outlineofallwelloperations
b)Hazards
c)Specificsafetymattersandtheuseofcertainequipment,i.e.ESDsystemd)Emergencyandcontingencyprocedures.
