Thetrick,isthedeliberatelycontrarypart—forasituationtobeironic,itmustbetheoppositeofwhatisexpected,notmerelyanamusingcoincidence.Atrafficjamwhenyou’realreadylatemaybeanundesirablecoincidence,butitisnottheoppositeoutcomeonewouldexpectwhenleavingforworklate.Instead,CollegeHumorwriterPatrickCasselscorrectsthesituationlikethis:
