Later,theylaunchedtwopilotprogramsatindependentcoffeeshopsinCalifornia.Inonecase,customersweregiven“smart”reusablecupsmademostlyfromrecyclableplastic.Theythencoulddroptheiremptiesintocollectioncontainersatkeylocations,forwashingandreuse.ThesecupswereprintedwithRFIDchipsorQRcodes,throughwhichcoffeeshopscanknowwherethereisthegreatestneedforcollectioncontainersandhowmanyarenotusingthem.
