Abstract:

Thisthesiscomesupwithseveralreasonsofformingheroine’specialcharacterasfollows:

thespecialenvironmentcreatesthespecialcharacterthatisthenaturalenvironmentandthesocialcharacterthatdoomedherspecialfate.Ontheotherhand,Scarlett’slovebetweenAshelyandRhettissopassionablethatshegetsnothingatlast.ThewriterwritesastorywhichhappenedintheCivilWaroftheAmerica.AlthoughMitchellneverparticipatedinanycampaign,thisspirithadaffectedher.ThisthesisdescribestheprocessandthereasonofchangingScarlett’scharacterinordertoshowthatwomenshouldbeindependentinsociety.Scarlett’scharacterinordertoshowthatwomenshouldbeindependentinsociety.Scarlettmanagestoovercomeadversitythroughbrutestrengthofwill.SherebuildsTaraafterYankeeinvasionandworksherwayupinthenewpoliticalorder,takingcareofhelplessfamilymembersandfriendsalongtheway.

Asweallknowthatthebook"GonewiththeWind"writtenbyMargaretMitchell,theauthorofAmerica,createdacharacternamedScarlettwhodarestoloveandkeepforgingahead.itdepictedherlife’sjourneyandherloveaswellasdisplayedthefemalekeptattemptsinpursuitoftheirself-consciousduringTheCivilWar,thatisthebackgroundofthearticle,thefigureinthebookthroughherlifetimeoflove,friendship,andaffection.Andfurthermore,thisarticleshowedtheAmericanfemaleaspiredandsoughtaftertheirhappinessandvaluesandmadegreateffortsandexplorednewdestinationscontinuously,itisencouragingandtouchingourheart!

Itisheronlynovel.GonewiththeWindwaspublishedin1936,tenyearsafterMitchellbeganwritingit.Asmashsuccessuponpublication,GonewiththeWindbecame—andremainsevennow—oneofthebestsellingnovelsofalltime.Itreceivedthe1937PulitzerPrize.MargaretMitchellwasborninAtlanta,Georgia,in1900.HerfatherwasalawyerandthepresidentoftheAtlantaHistoricalSociety,andhermotherwasasuffragetteandanadvocateofwomen’srightsingeneral.Mitchellgrowsuplisteningtopeoplewhohadlivedthroughthewar.In1926,encouragedbyherhusband,MitchellbegantowritethenovelthatwouldbecomeGonewiththeWind.Shewentthroughninecompletedraftsofthethousand—pagework,settinganepicromanceagainsttheCivilWarbackgroundsheknewsowell.

GonewiththeWinddiffersfrommostCivilWarnovelsbyglorifyingtheSouthanddemonizingtheNorth.OtherpopularnovelsabouttheCivilWar,suchasStephenCrane’sTheRedBadgeofCourage,aretoldfromaNorthernperspectiveandtendtoexalttheNorth’svalues.Mitchell’snovelisuniquealsoforO’Hara,whosharesmanycharacteristicswithMitchellHerself.Thenovelismostvaluableifreadwithanunderstandingofthreehistoricalcontexts:

ourown,Mitchell’s,andScarlett’s.

GonewiththeWindisbotharomanceandameditationofthechangesthatswepttheAmericanSouthinthe1860s.Thenovelbeginsin1861,inthedaysbeforetheCivilWar,andendsin1871,aftertheDemocratsregainpowerinGeorgia.TheSouthchangescompletelyduringtheinterveningyears,andMitchell’snovelillustratesthestrugglesoftheSouthernpeoplewholivethroughtheCivilWarera.

IthinkinthenovelGonewiththewindthebiggestattractionbetweenmenandwomenisdescribedasaprofoundemotionaldislocationproducedathrilling.Feelingsofanxietytodrivecomputerexpertscrazy.Heroandheroineoftenmisseachotheragainandthekindofscenesappearsparticularlywantto.Andwhenthepublicwantsthemsilly.Themosthearttheendofthenovel,onecametotheirsenses,andtheotherhasdecidedtoleave.Maybeeveryoneherewillhaveseensuchanidea:

toknowhowtocherishthepeoplewhoreallyloveyou.Thishappenstothebestwaytodealwiththeirfeelingsstraightattitudeandposition.Everyoneoflove,youloveaperson,youmayhopethatyouknowhowtocherish,isitnot?
