Themothersofdisabledkidstendedtobemuchmoredepressed,inworsephysicalhealthandtofeeltheyhadlessofasenseofcontrolthanmotherswithoutdisabledkids.Forinstance,18percentofmothersofdisabledchildrenreportedhavingbeendepressedinthe12monthspriortothestudy,comparedwith7percentofmotherswithoutdisabledkids.Mothersofdisabledchildrenalsohadlesssupportfromfriendsthanwomenwithoutdisabledchildren.Besides,amongthewomenwithdisabledchildren,beingmoreeducatedandhavingmoresocialsupportwerelinkedtosignificantlybettermemoryantsthinking.
