IhavebeenteachinginthetownofCotney,asmalltownofabout10,000people,130milesnorthofVictoriaonVancouverIsland.I’vebeenteachingatthejuniorsecondarylevel,Grades7,8and9aswell(as)theseniorsecondarylevel,Grades10,11and12.

Myinvolvementinextracurricularactivitieshasbeenquitebroad,primarilyinthesportsfield,butalsoinsupportingmanyoftheotherareasintheschool.Butletmegetintospecificsaboutwhatkindofthingsareofferedinourschoolshere.

Wehavetwodifferentkindsofsportingactivities.Oneofthemiswhatwecallaninter-schoolactivitywhereoneschoolcompetesagainstanother.Andthatlevelofsportisreservedjustfortheeliteathletesoftheschool,theverygoodathletes.Wealsohaveanintramuralprogram,whichmeanswithinthewallsoftheschoolsothateverystudentintheschoolisinvitedtoparticipate.Itis,it’sfocusedlargelyonparticipationandmanyofourstudentsdoparticipate.Wehaveover60percentofourstudentbodyinvolvedinourintramuralprogram.

Butletmenotfocusjustonsports.Thereisanotherverylargeareaofextracurricularactivityinthemusicprogram.Themusicprogramisbrokenintotwomainparts.Oneisb
