OnSaturday,scientistssaiditwaspossiblesomepiecescouldhavereachednorthwesternCanada,butNasasaidovernightthatnewcalculationsshowitlandedearlierthantheythought,nowherenearNorthAmerica.

NickJohnson,Nasa'schiefscientistfororbitaldebris,saidthesatellitehaddescended“wellwithin”therangepredicted(预测)bytheJointSpaceOperationsCenter(JSOC).“Thiswasnotaneasyreentrytopredictbecauseofthenaturalforcesactingonthesatelliteasitsorbitdecayed(轨道变形).Someothernationsaroundtheworldalsoweremonitoringthesatellite'sdescentinthelasttwohoursandallthepredictionswerewellwithintherangeestimatedbyJSOC.”
