OneSeptembermorningtherewasastormatseaandashipwasdrivenonarock.Itwasbrokenintwobythewavesandhalfofitwaswashedaway.Someofthesailorsclungtotheotherhalf.Therewasalighthouse.Onanislandnotfarawaygracedarlingandherfatherlivedinthelighthouse.Theysawthepoorsailorsclingingtothewreck.Gracesaidtoherfather,“wemusttrytosavethosemen.”“itisonuse,”saidherfather.“Wecannotreachthem.”Gracewasnotwillingtogiveup.Sosheandherfatherstartedinaheavyrowboat.Gracepulledoneoarandherfatherpulledtheother,itwashardtorowagainstthebigwaves.Atlasttheyreachedthewreckandtookthepoorsailorsintotheirboat.Theyrowedbacktothelighthousewiththemandgavethemwarmfoodanddryclothes.Inafewdaysthestormwasoverandthesailorswanttotheirhomes.TheyfeltverygratefultoGraceDarlingandherfather.
