INTRODUCTION

TheSelf-StudyReportisexpectedtobeaquantitativeandqualitativeassessmentofthestrengthsandlimitationsoftheprogrambeingsubmittedforreview.

TheSelf-StudyReportwillprovideinformationcriticaltoathoroughon-sitereviewoftheprogram.Therefore,theReportwilladdresstheextenttowhichtheprogrammeetsapplicableABETCriteriaandpolicies.Insodoing,itisnecessarythattheReportaddressallmethodsofinstructionaldeliveryusedfortheprogram,allpossiblepathsthatstudentsmaytaketocompletionofthedegree,andallremoteofferingsavailabletostudentsintheprogram.

EachCommissionofABETprovidesaSelf-StudyQuestionnairetoassisttheprogramincompletingtheSelf-StudyReport.

REQUIREMENTSANDPREPARATION

TheprogramnameusedonthecoveroftheSelf-StudyReportmustbeidenticaltothatusedintheinstitutionalpublications,ontheABETRequestforEvaluation（RFE）,andonthetranscriptsofgraduates.ThiswillensurethattheprogramiscorrectlyidentifiedinABETrecordsandthatgraduatescanbecorrectlyidentifiedasgraduatingfromanaccreditedprogram.

Normally,eachprogramrequiresaSelf-StudyReport.

WhiletheQuestionnairefocusesprimarilyonaccreditationcriteria,italsoincludesquestionsrelatedtocertainsectionsoftheABETAccreditationPolicyandProcedureManual（APPM）.

WhileitisimportantthattheoverallstructureintheQuestionnaireberetained,itisnotnecessarytopreservenotesorpagesofinstructionsaboutpreparingtheSelf-StudyReport.

AprogrammayuseterminologydifferentfromthatusedintheQuestionnaire.

Ifdifferentterminologyisused,itisimportantthattheSelf-StudyReportprovidenotesofexplanationtoclearlylinktheterminologyintheReporttoterminologyusedintheQuestionnaire.

TablesintheQuestionnairemaybemodifiedinformattomoreclearlypresenttheinformationfortheprogram.Whenthisisdone,itissuggestedthatabriefexplanatoryfootnotebeincludedaboutwhythetablewasmodified.Rowsmaybeaddedtoordeletedfromtablestobetteraccommodateprograminformation.

Theeducationalunitistheadministrativeunithavingacademicresponsibilityfortheprogram（s）beingreviewedbyagivenCommissionofABET.Forexample,ifasingle

programisbeingreviewed,theeducationalunitmaybethedepartment.Ifmorethanoneprogramisbeingreviewed,theeducationalunitistheadministrativeunitresponsibleforthecollectivegroupofprogramsbeingreviewedbythatCommission.

Officialacademictranscriptsofrecentgraduates.Theofficialacademictranscriptcontainsalistingofallthecoursestakenbyagraduate,year/semestercoursesweretaken,thegradesearned,anddegree（s）earned.TheTeamChairwillrequestaspecificsamplingoftranscriptsforeachprogramandwillprovideatimeframeinwhichtheyshouldbeprovidedtoprogramevaluators.Eachacademictranscriptistobeaccompaniedbytheprogramrequirementsforthegraduateandaccompaniedbyworksheetsthattheprogramusestoshowhowthegraduatehasfulfilledprogramrequirements.Master’sdegreeprogramsunderreviewmustalsoprovidecopiesofthestudents’undergraduateacademictranscriptsthatwereusedtomakeanadmissiondecision.

Noemailsubmissionpermitted.Nohardcopysubmissionwillbeaccepted.Thesubmissioncannotbeacombinationofhardcopyandelectronicfile.

TheSelf-StudyReportandSupplementalMaterialshouldbesubmittedaspdfread-onlyfilesonCD,DVD,ordatastickonly.EachSelf-StudyReportandSupplementMaterialmustbeself-containedinthemediumsubmittedandmustnotincludeexternalhyperlinks.
