exceptprep．除了，除了…外
eg.Exceptabrokenchair,theroomhasnofurniture.
除了一把破椅子，这间房子里什么也没有。
（chair与furniture性质相同）
exceptfor
eg.Exceptforabrokenchair,theroomisempty.
除了一把破椅子外，这间房子是空的。
exceptfor没有“所指项目类别”的限制
exceptthat
eg.IknownothingabouthiscareerexceptthatheisagraduateofOxfordUniversity.
除了他是牛津大学毕业生之外，我对他的职业一无所知。
butprep.除…之外（与no,nobody,all,anywhere等连用）
eg.Nobodyknewhernamebutme.
除了我之外，没人知道她的名字。

2）[C]中诉，控诉
Theyarefullofcomplaintsabouttheirlaborconditions.关于劳动条件他们牢骚一大堆。
continuallyadv.频繁地，屡次地，反复地
例：

continuously连续不断地，不间断地
continuev.
1）继续，持续（用于不中断的继续或中断后的继续）
Theraincontinuedtilllateatnight.雨一直持续到半夜。
Thediscussioncontinuedafterabreak.休息一会后讨论继续。
continuedoing/continuetodosth继续做某事
Howcanyoucontinuetoworkwithsomuchnoise?
有这么大噪音，你怎么能继续工作呢？
2）继续存在或不断发生
continue十adj.

continual.adj.
1）…再重复的
continualcomplaints频频的抱怨

2）连续的
continualrain连续不停的雨
continuous（时间上，空间上）连续的
acontinuouslineofcars络绎不绝的汽车

区别：
continual指“中间有间断，但持续很久，好像没有停止的意味”
Youneedcontinualpractice．你需要持续的锻炼。
continuous指“中间没有间断，但持续某…段时间后可能会停下来”
Theplaneiscapableoftwodaycontinuousnight.这架飞机能持续飞行两大。

1）苦味的
abittertaste-种苦的味道
eg.Thecoffeewastoobittertodrink.这个咖啡太苦了没法喝。
taste:

味道：

二、关键句型Keystructures
过去完成时：
had+过去分词（v．-ed）
一般过去时：
过去某一时间发生的事情。
过去某一时刻之前发生的事，也就是“过去的过去”。
过去完成时是一个相对的时态，它不能离开过时间而独立存住。

1）国家

country国家（最普遍的中性词）
state侧重指政权机构，亦可指政府本身
nation
1）可指政治单位，比state庄重

2）民族
land较为庄重，多用于诗歌中
motherland祖国/nativeland祖国/homeland祖国

eventhough引导让步状语从句，相当于evenif“即使”
eg.Eventhoughheworkedhard,,hefailedintheexam.即使她学习很努力，但考试还是没及格。
文中三个it均指天气，属虚主语的用法

getashock大吃一惊

虚拟语气
表示所说的话只是一种主观的愿望，假想和建议等。
虚拟语气的动词基本形式有其中，其中had+过去分词表示过去事实的相反的假想。
Ifwehadleftearlier,wewouldn’thavemissedthetrain.
假若我们早点动身的话，我们是不会错过火车的。
Intheend,itwasmorethanhecouldbear.
Hecouldnotbearitanymore./Hecouldbearitnomore．他不能再忍受下去了。

2）想起

4）万想不到，做梦也没有想到（与wouldnot,couldnot连用）
