Thissuggestedthattheycouldremembertheirpastexperiences.Researchersusedcomputersoftwaretomonitorthefish’smovements.Theyfoundthataftersuchalongbreakthefishstillwenttothesameplacewheretheyfirstgotfood.

Infact,scientistshadbeenthinkingforalongtimethatAfricancichlidsmighthaveagoodmemory.

Anearlierstudyshowedthattheybehavedaggressivelyinfrontofcertainfish,perhapsbecausetheyrememberedtheirpastfights.Butuntilthelatestfindings,therewasnoclearevidence.
