Gettingstartedisoftenthemostdifficultpartandforthisreasonitisbesttobeginwiththeeasiestsections.
Theseareusuallythemethodsandresults,followedbythediscussion,conclusion,introduction,referencesandtitle,leavingtheabstractuntillast.

Thestrongpartstothestory-linearetheintroductionandthediscussionsothelinkbetweentheesectionsmustbeclear.
Theresearchquestionwhichisposedastheneedoftheintroductionmustbeansweredatthebeginningofthediscussion(Zeiger,1991).
Havinginvestedmanyhoursinundertakingresearch,thetemptationistotrytotellthereadereverythingyoureadandlearnedintheprocessandtoprovideallthedatagathered.
However,intheplanningstages,itisessentialtorememberthatawordlimitisusuallyimposedandthereforeunimportantorirrelevantinformationmustbeleftout.
Inthecaseofalargestudy,itmaybenecessarytowriteseveralpaperswhichcoverdifferentresearchquestions.

Thisprovidesthefirstimpressiontothereader,soselectingthemostappropriatetitlerequiressomethought.
Thetitleinfluenceswhetherareaderisinterestedinreadingthemanuscript.
Itshouldincludeallessentialwordsintherightordersuchthatthetopicofthemanuscriptisaccuratelyandfullyconveyed(e.g.clearlyrelatedtothepurposeofthestudy)(RudestamandNewton,1992).

TheseareusedforindexingpurposesandmustbeselectedfromtheIndexMedicusMedicalSubjectHeadings(MeSH).
