　　mists.Philosophical

　　religions.Anancientacademy,numerousremainsoficeageandmanywestern-styled

　　villas.ItwasamongthefirstKeyScenicDistrictsofChinaandwasoneofthedistrictsbestowedthetitles“fortyBestScenicDistrictsofChina”NationalExemplaryQ-villized,scenicandHistoricInterestDistrict”,“NationalGeoparkofChina”,“AAAA-ratedTourismDistrict”and

　　SituatedinthesouthernpartofJiujiangCity,JiangxiProvince,LushanMountainisonthebankofPoyangLake.ItisoneofChina’sfamousmountainsandcoversanareaof300square

　　kilometers.ItwasincludedintheUNESCOworldheritagelistin

　　Themountainisawell-knownscenicarea,summerresortand

　　sanitaria.Thereareimposingandmagnificentpeaks,uniquewaterf-alls,andhistoricalsitesaswellasachangingseaofcloudsandawarmandcomfortable

　　DahanyangPeak,thehighestpeakofthemountain,rises1,474metersabovesea

　　level.ThemainscenicspotsonthemountainincludethePeakoftheFiveOldMen,Three-StepSpring,HanpoPass,LulinLake,GreatTianchiLake,Flowerpath,RuqinLake,JingxiuValley,Immortal’sCavern,LesserTianchiLake,Donglin

　　Temple.GulingTown,thecenterofthescenicarea,isauniquecity

　　onthe

　　mountain.Atanaltitudeof1,167meters,itissurroundedonthreesidesby

　　mountains.ToitsnorthisScissors

　　Pass.Amountainhighwayleadstothevariousscenicspotsfromthe

　　city.The1,211-meter-highHanpopaliesbetweenthePeakoftheFiveOldMenandJiuqi

　　Peak.

　　PoyangLakeisinthesouthofHanpoPeakanditsextensivesurf-aceisdottedwiththousandsof

　　boats.HanpoPavilionisanidealplacetoviewthe

　　sunrise.TotheeastofThree-StepSpringisthePeakoftheFiveOldMenwhereawaterf-allcascadesfromrocktorockinatotaldropof300

　　meters.WestofGulingistheFlowerpathwherethenotedpoetoftheTangDynasty,BaiJuyi,wrotepoemsexpressinghisadmirationofthepeach

　　blossoms.DonglinTempleonthenorthwestslopeofthemountainisthebirthplaceofthePureLandSectof

　　Buddhism.WhiteDeerCaveAcademyisinavalleyatthefootofthePeakoftheFiveOldMenandwasoneoftheearliestinstitutesofhigherlearninginancient

　　China.TheGreaterandLesserTianchiLakesarebeautifulscenicspotsonthemountainandcontainwateralltheyear

　　round.TheGreaterTianchiLakeisanidealplacetoviewasunsetandenjoytheYangtzeRiverwhiletheLesserTianchiLakeisagoodplacetoenjoythebeautyofthePoyang

　　Lake.

　　TreessurroundLushanMuseumonthenorthernbankofLulinLake;

　　ithousesancientChinesebronzes,potteryfromdifferenthistoricalperiods,calligraphicworksfromTangDynastyandpaintingsfromMingandQing

　　dynasties.TheLushanBotanicalGardensareinavalleytotheeastofthe

　　Mountain.Atanaltitudeof1,000to1,300meters,theyaresub-highlandbotanicalgardensandwerefoundedin

　　1934.Thegardenscoveranareaofthreesquarekilometers,growmorethan3,400kindsofplantsandpreserve100,000plant

　　samples.
