B)TheannualCouncilofFashionDesignersofAmerica(CFDA)FashionAwardsinNewYorkareconsideredtophonorsinAmericanfashion,andaremainlygrantedtoyoung,emergingtalents.“WinningaCFDAFashionAwardisthehighestandoneofthemostcovetedhonorsonecanreceiveinourindustry,”saysStevenKolb,executivedirectoroftheCFDA.“Thedecisiontohonordesignerswith(ourawards)isbasedontalent,andtalentalone.”In2010,Chinese-AmericandesignersJasonWuandAlexanderWangwererecognizedbythejudgesandwonawardsforwomenswearandaccessoriesrespectively.Wu,WangandPhillipLim,havebeennominatedfor2012’sFashionAwards.

F)Besidestheirprofessionalbackground,fashionschoolsprovidethemwithasolidfoundationandsharpentheirsensitivityforworldfashiontrends.MostoftheChinese-AmericandesignerscomingintothespotlightareallformerstudentsofParsonsSchoolofDesigninNewYork,whichisregardedasoneofthetopfashiondesignschoolsintheUS.“ThesuccessoftheseChinese-Americandesignersisthenaturalresultoftheiryearsofpractice,”saysHuangHung,acommentatoronChinesearts,lifestyleandshowbusiness.TheyallreceivedprofessionaltrainingintheWestandhavebeenwiththefashiondesignindustryforalongtimeandaccumulatedenoughexperience.Withmatureproductsanduniquemarketpositioning,itisjustnormalforthemtosucceedatthismoment.

DesigninLondonandESMODinFrance.Withsolidtraining,theyalsohaveworkorinternexperiencesininternationalapparel(服饰)companies.Giventheproperopportunity,theseyoungdesignershavegreatpotentialofbecomingworld-leveldesigners.LiuYuanfeng,presidentofBeijingInstituteofFashionTechnology,saysthatthewesternfashioncenterwilldefinitelyseemoreChinesedesignersinthefuture.“Itistheinevitabletrend,”Liusays.“Inthepasttwoyears,moredesignershaveemergedinthemarket.Theseyoungdesignershaveabettereducationbackground,aclearerunderstandingofthemarketandglobalperspective.
H)LiusaysthatglobalizationwillstrengthenthecooperationbetweenChinesedesignersandfashioncentersacrosstheworld.“Asthecross-culturalcommunicationgetsmorefrequentbetweenChinaandtheWest,manyofthemareinvitedtoholdfashionshowsinParisandNewYork.ThustheywillhavemoreopportunitiestodemonstratetheirtalentandgraduallyemergeastopdesignerswhowillinfluencethemainstreamofWesternfashion.”Liu,whoisalsothevice-presidentoftheChinaFashionAssociation,saysthatnowadays,manyyoungdesignersarelookingforquicksuccessbybeingapartofsomeinternationalfashionshows.
