电池因纳米技术获得推进

据报道,美国纳米材料供应商AltairNanotechnologies公司(简称“Altairnano”)研发了一个纳米锂离子钛酸尖晶石材料(nLTO)用于电池,数据揭示该新型电池比另外一种新型化学-硫酸铁/石墨电池的寿命长30倍。

据介绍,在过去15年,电池技术有关锂离子化学的大量工作已经在阴极完成,但一直未接触阳极石墨的有关工作。

而石墨会产生热失控现象,并且随使用时间而退化,因为它是一个小盘型结构,存在电荷。

因此,Altairnano公司用nLTO材料代替石墨,牺牲了少量的能量密度,但在更宽的温度跨度范围及更安全的电压跨度范围获得了可使用能量。

此外,锂离子在一个紧的电压窗内得到管理,避免了热失控、着火等问题。

Altairnano公司将纳米涂层应用到一个铝电极,使表面区域比传统的锂离子电池大100倍,在铜电极上有石墨。

大的表面区域及没有固体电解液界面层,保证杰出的充、放电率性能。

据介绍,纳米钛化物电池存储制动能量的效率是传统的锂离子电池相的三倍,其再充电能力以10分钟计算而不是几小时。

持久性也是纳米钛化物电池的优点。

Altairnano公司正处在最终阶段将其1100-lb(500-kg),35-kW·

h电池组推向Phoenix车辆市场。

公司的下一代化学电池将改善能量密度。
