Inthenewstudy,theteamtrackedalladultsagedbetween20and85livinginOntarioformorethanadecadefrom2001to2012.Theyusedpostcodestodeterminehowclosepeoplelivedtoamainroadandanalyzedmedicalrecordstoseeiftheywentontodevelopdementia,Parkinson’sdiseaseormultiplesclerosis.

WhiletherewasnocorrelationbetweenlivingneararoadandParkinson’sdiseaseormultiplesclerosis,dementiariskreducedaspeoplelivedfurtherfromamainroad,witha7percenthigherriskindevelopingdementiaamongthoselivingwithin50metres:
