AuthorGuidelines
AmericanJournalofTranslationalResearch (AJTR,ISSN1943-8141)isanopenaccessonlinejournaldedicated
tooriginalclinicalandexperimentalresearchpapers,butwillalsopublisheditorials,reviewarticles,medical
hypothesis,letterstotheeditorsandmeetingreports.ThegoalofAJTRistoprovideafreeforumforrapid
disseminationofthenoveldiscoveriesintranslationalresearch.

Authors’responsibilities
Toensurethatsubmittedmanuscriptshavenotbeenpublishedelsewhere(exceptintheformofanabstractoras
partofapublishedlectureorthesis)andarenotcurrentlyunderconsiderationforpublicationbyanotherjournal.
Toensureallauthorshavecontributedto,readandapprovedthefinalmanuscriptforsubmission.
Toensurethatalldatainthesubmittedmanuscriptareauthentic.Maintainaccuraterecordsofdataassociated
withtheirsubmittedmanuscriptandtoprovidethisdatauponreasonablerequest.
Toinformtheeditorofanyothersubmittedmanuscriptsthatmightcontainoverlappingorcloselyrelatedcontent.
Toobtainpermissiontoreproduceanycontentfromothersources.
Toconfirmthatalltheworkinthesubmittedmanuscriptisoriginal,andtoacknowledgeandciteanycontent
reproducedfromothersources.
Toensurethatanystudiesinvolvinghumanoranimalsubjectsconformtonational,localandinstitutionallaws
andrequirements(e.g.WMADeclarationofHelsinki,theGuidelinesofOfficeforHumanResearchProtections
(OHRP)HumanSubjectProtections,NIHPolicyonUseofLaboratoryAnimals,orequivalent).Forstudies
involvinghumansubjects,authorsshouldobtainexpresspermissionfromsubjectsandrespecttheirprivacy.
Confirmationthatapprovalhasbeensoughtandobtainedshouldbeincludedinthemanuscriptwhere
applicable.ExperimentsinvolvinganimalsshouldfollowtheappropriateinstitutionortheNationalResearch
CouncilGuideforthecareanduseoflaboratoryanimals.
Declareanypotentialconflictsofinterestthatcouldbeperceivedasexertinganundueinfluenceonhisorher
dutiesatanystageduringthepublicationprocess.
Tonotifypromptlythejournaleditororpublisherifasignificanterrorintheirpublicationisidentified,andto
cooperatewiththeeditorandpublishertoprovideretractionsorcorrectionsifnecessary.
Keepacopyofthemanuscriptsubmittedincaseofrevision,rejection,lossordamage.Receiptofmanuscripts
willbeacknowledgedandadecisionregardingacceptancemadeassoonaspossible.Acceptedmanuscripts
maybesubjecttoeditorialrevisionwithoutnotice.
Authorsshouldprovide4potentialpeerreviewerswithdetailedcontactinformationincludinge-mailaddress.
Authorsmayalsonominate2peersthattheyrequestarenotsentthearticleforpeerreviewforconflictsofinterest
orotherappropriatereasons–insuchinstancessomereasonablejustificationmustbegiven.Theseshouldbe
expertsintheirfieldofstudy,whowillbeabletoprovideanobjectiveassessmentofthemanuscript.Ifnot
provided,potentialreviewerswillbeidentifiedbytheirpublicationrecordorrecommendedbytheEditorialBoard
members.Allmanuscriptsaresubjecttopeerreviewandareexpectedtomeettherigorousstandardsof
academicexcellence.
Reviewers’responsibilities
Toensurethatacceptedmanuscriptsmeettherigorousstandardsofacademicexcellence.
Toreviewsubmittedmanuscriptsobjectively,andinatimelymanner.
Tomaintaintheconfidentialityofanyinformationsuppliedbytheeditororauthor,andtonotretainorcopythe
manuscriptinanymanner.
Toalerttheeditorofanypublishedorpreviouslysubmittedcontentthatissubstantiallysimilartothatunderreview.
Topointoutanyrelevantpublishedworkthatisnotyetcited.
Tobeawareofanypotentialconflictsofinterestbetweenthereviewerandauthor/researchfunders(financial,
institutional,collaborativeorotherwise).Toalerttheeditortoanypotentialconflictsofinterestandifnecessary,
withdrawingtheirservicesforthatmanuscript.
Editors’responsibilities
Toactinabalanced,fairandobjectivewaywhilecarryingoutdutieswithoutdiscriminationbasedonsexual
orientation,religiousorpoliticalbeliefs,gender,ethnicorgeographicalbackgroundoftheauthors.Editorshave
completeresponsibilityandauthoritytoacceptand/orrejectmanuscripts.
Ensurethatthereisnoconflictofinterestwithrespecttomanuscriptstheyreject/accept.
Toensurethatallmanuscripts,includingsubmissionsforsponsoredsupplementsorspecialissuesare
handledinthesamewayasothersubmissions,sothatarticlesareconsideredandacceptedsolelyontheir
academicmeritwithoutanycommercialinfluence.
Topreservetheanonymityofreviewers.
Toadoptandfollowreasonableproceduresintheeventofanycomplaints,ethicalorotherwise,inaccordance
withthepoliciesandproceduresofCOPE(www.publicationethics.org).Togiveauthorsareasonableopportunity
torespondtoanycomplaints.Allcomplaintsshouldbeinvestigatednomatterwhentheoriginalpublicationwas
approved,anddocumentationassociatedwithanysuchcomplaintsshouldberetained.
Topromotethepublicationofcorrectionsand/orretractionswhenerrorsarefound.
PublisherResponsibilities
Toensurethatallarticlespublishedmeetthestandardsandrequirementsoutlinedabove.
Toensurethatanycorrections,retractions,and/orclarificationsarepublishedwhennecessary.
Tomaintaintheintegrityoftheacademicrecord,andprecludebusinessneedsfromcompromisingintellectual
andethicalstandards.
IdentificationofUnethicalBehavior
Misconductand/orunethicalbehaviormaybeidentifiedandbroughttotheattentionoftheeditorandpublisherat
anytime,byanyone.
Whoeverinformstheeditororpublisherofmisconductshouldgathersufficientevidenceandinformationinorder
foraninvestigationtobeinitiated.Evidenceshouldbegatheredinadiscreetmanner,inordertoavoidspreading
allegationsbeyondthosewhoabsolutelyneedtoknow,inordertoprotecttheconfidentialityofthepartiesin
questionuntilaconclusionhasbeenreached.
Allallegationswillbetakenseriouslyandhandledinthesamemanner.
Theeditorwilltakeinitialaction,withadditionalinputfromthepublisherwhereappropriate.
Ineverycase,authorswillbegiventheopportunitytorespondtoanyallegations.
MisconductandPossibleOutcomes
Minorbreachesofconductmightbedealtwithinternally,withouttheneedforanyoutsideconsultation;
Dependingontheseverityoftheinfraction,otheroutcomesmayinclude,butarenotlimitedtothefollowing:
Informingtheauthororrevieweroftheinfraction,andeducatinghim/her onhowtoavoidfuturebreachesof
conduct;
Awrittenwarningregardingthebreachofconduct;
Publicationofaformalnoticeand/oreditorialdetailingthemisconduct;
Aformallettertotheauthor’sdepartmentheadand/orfundingagency;
Retractionofthepublicationfromthejournal,andinformingboththe Abstracting&Indexingservicesaswellas
thereadershipofthepublicationoftheinfraction;
Suspensionoftheauthor’seligibilityforpublication;
Reportingthebreachofconducttoahigherauthorityforfurtherinvestigationandaction.
CopyrightPolicy
BysubmittingamanuscripttoAJND,allauthorsagreethatallcopyrightsofallmaterialsincludedinthesubmitted
manuscriptwillbeexclusivelytransferredtothepublisher-e-CenturyPublishingCorporationoncethemanuscript
isaccepted.
Oncethepaperispublished,thecopyrightwillbereleasedbythepublisherunderthe“CreativeCommons
AttributionNoncommercialLicense”,enablingtheunrestrictednon-commercialuse,distribution,and

appropriateEC(EnzymeCommission)numberasrecommendedbytheNomenclatureCommitteeofthe
InternationalUnionofBiochemistryandMolecularBiology(IUBMB).
