Theresearcherslookedatthesoiltoo."Thesesediments(沉积物)nearthemangrovesrevealedexactlywhatweexpected,"saysExequielEzcurra,anecologistattheUniversityofCalifornia.Inall,theresearchersturnedupcoastalstones,shellsofseasnailsandclaysedimentsrichinshellfragments(碎片).Theseledtheresearcherstoconcludetheareausedtobepartoftheoceanlongago.
