OneofmyfavouritegreatbooksisTheAdventuresofTomSawyer,byMarkTwain.ThestoryissetinthetownofStPetersburg,Missouri,theUS,inthenineteenthcentury.Ittellssomeexcitingstoriesaboutaboywhohasmanyadventures.

Tom,theheroofthebook,liveswithhisauntPolly.Heisalivelyandcleverboy.Hedoesnotlikepeopletellinghimwhattodo,sohealwaysgetsintotrouble.Heandhisbestfriend,HuckFinn,runawaytoanislandinthemiddleoftheMississippiRiver.TomhasmoretroublebecauseabadmannamedInjunJoeislookingforhim.Later,Tomescapesfromacavewithanotherfriend,Becky.HealsofindsInjunJoe’streasureboxandtakesitaway.

MyfavouritepartofthebookiswhenTomandHunkstarttheiradventuresontheislandintheMississippiRiver.Atfirst,theyarehappy.Butwhentheyhearthateveryonethinkstheyaredied,theyfeelverysorry,sotheycomebackhome.Theyhideandwatchforatimewhentheyseetheirfamilyandneighbourscomingtotheirfuneralinthechurch.ThenTomandHucksuddenlyappear.Everyoneissurprisedtoseethematfirst,butverypleasedtofindthattheyarealive.
