7.Percentagesandrecipes.Witheverydaywritingandrecipesyoucanusedigits,like"4%ofthechildren"or"Add2cupsofbrownrice."Informalwriting,however,youshouldspellthepercentageoutlike"12percentoftheplayers"（or"twelvepercentoftheplayers,"dependingonyourpreferenceasexplainedinpointthree）.
8.Ifthenumberisroundedorestimated,spellitout.Roundednumbersoveramillionarewrittenasanumeralplusaword.Use"About400millionpeoplespeakSpanishnatively,"insteadof"About400,000,000peoplespeakSpanishnatively."Ifyou’reusingtheexactnumber,you’dwriteitout,ofcourse.
9.Twonumbersnexttoeachother.Itcanbeconfusingifyouwrite"713-year-olds",sowriteoneofthemasanumeral,like"seven13-year-olds".Pickthenumberthathasthefewestletters.
10.Ordinalnumbersandconsistency.Don’tsay"Hewasmy1sttruelove,"butrather"Hewasmyfirsttruelove."Beconsistentwithinthesamesentence.Ifmyteacherhas"23beginningstudents",shealsohas"18advancedstudents",not"eighteenadvancedstudents".
