Stowedecidedtomakepeopleunderstandthatslaverywasverybad.Eachnightafterputtingrsixchildrentobed,sheworkedonherbook.Shetoldtheowner.Shealsotoldhowtheslavestriedtorunawayforfreedom.UncleTom’sCabinfirstcamein1852.Over300,000booksweresoldoutinayear.

Peoplehaddifferentideasaboutthebook.IntheNorth,manypeoplefinallybelievedthatslaverymustbeendedaftertheyreadthebook.IntheSouth,manypeoplewereveryangryatthepeopleintheNorth.By1861thetwopartsofthecountrywereatwar.TheCivilWar,whichlasteduntilofcease,wasmadetohappenbymanythings.YetUncleTom’sCabinsurelyplayedapart.StowemetPresidentLinclonin1862.AsLinclontookherhand,hesaid,“Soyouarethewomanwhostarredthebigwar.”
