GoingtoaBritishhighschoolforoneyearwasaveryenjoyableandexcitingexperienceforme.IwasveryhappywiththeschoolhoursinBritainbecauseschoolhoursstartsaround9am.andendsabout3:

30pm.ThismeansIcouldgetupanhourlaterthanusual,asschoolsinChinabeginbefore8a.m.

Onthefirstday,allofthenewstudentsattendedanassemblyintheschoolhall.IsatnexttoagirlwhosenamewasDianna.Wesoonbecamebestfriends.Duringtheassembly,theheadmastertoldustherulesoftheschool.Healsotoldusthatthebestwaytoearnrespectwastodevoteourselvestostudyandachievehighgrades.ThissoundedlikemyschoolinChina.

Ihadmanyteachersinthepastyear.MrHevwood,myclassteacher,wasveryhelpful.MyfavoriteteacherwasmissBurke一IlovedthelessonsthatshegaveinEnglishLiterature.Inourclasstherewere28students.ThisisabouttheaveragesizeforBritishschools.wehadtomovetodifferentclassroomsfordifferentclasses.wealsohaddifferentstudentsinsomeclasses,soitwasastruggleformetorememberallthefacesandnames.

IfoundthatthehomeworkwasnotasheavyaswhatIusedtogetinmyoldschool.However,itwasabitchallengingformeatfirst,becauseallthehomeworkwasinEnglish.Ifeltlucky,asallmyteachergavememuchencouragementandIenjoyallmysubjects:

English,history,Englishliterature,computerscience,maths,science,PE,cookingandFrench.

MyEnglishimprovedalot,asIusedEnglisheverydayandspentanhoureachdayreadingEnglishbooksinthelibrary.Iusuallywenttothecomputerclubduringlunchbreak,soIcouldsendemailstomyfamilyandfriendsbackhomeforfree.IalsohadanextraFrenchclassonTuesdayevening.Cookingwasreallyfunaslearnthowtobuy,prepareandcookfood.Attheendoftheclassweheldaclasspartyandweallhadtocooksomething.IwasgladthatallmyclassmateswerefondofthecakethatImade.

Studentsatthatschoolhavetostudymaths,Englishandscience,butcanstopstudyingsomesubjectsiftheydonotlikethem.Forexample,historyandFrench.Theycanchooseothersubjectssuchlikeartandcomputerscience,orlanguagessuchasSpanishandGerman.IntheartclassthatItook,Imadeasmallsculpture.Thoughitdidnotlookverybeautifulwhenitwasfinished.Istilllikeitverymuch.

ImissedChinesefoodalotatlunch.Britishfoodisverydifferent.Britishpeoplelikeeatingdessertattheendoftheirmainmeal.Afterlunch,weusuallyplayedontheschoolfield.SometimesIplayedfootballwiththeboys.SometimesIjustrelaxedunderatreeorsatonthegrass.

Iwasveryluckytoexperiencethisdifferentwayoflife.IlookbackonmytimeintheUKwithsatisfaction.AndIreallyhopetogobackandstudyinManchesteragain.
