Takemedicineforexample.ThemaintextbookfordoctorshadbeenwrittenbyaGreekdoctorcalledGalenmorethanathousandyearsearlier.ButwhenRogerBacon,athirteenth-centurypriest（牧师）,saidthatanewapproachtomedicinewasneeded-doctorsshoulddotheirownoriginalresearchinsteadofreadingwritersfromthepastsuchasGalen-theChurchputhiminprison.
