Conditionsofsubmission

Bysubmittingto MaterialsResearchInnovations,authorsacknowledgeandacceptthatpapersareconsideredforpublicationonthebasis:

1.Thatthepaperpresentsoriginalworkthatisnotbeingconsideredorreviewedbyanyotherpublication,andhasnotbeenpublishedelsewhereinthesameorasimilarform.  

2.Thatallauthorsareawareof,andhaveconsentedto,thesubmissionto MaterialsResearchInnovations.

Theinitialsubmission（inPDForWordformat）mustconformtotheguidelineslaidoutbelowandmustinclude:

∙acompletemanuscriptofthepaper,whichmustincludeaparagraphspecificallyindicatinghowtheliteraturewassearchedand,inthelightofthat,whatisdistinctively‘innovative’ornewaboutthecontents

∙astructuredextendedabstract（1300–1800words）

∙abibliographylistingthepublishedworkofaprincipalauthor（thebenchmarkforscientistsinacademiais30papers;fewerforthoseinindustry）.

Incompletesubmissionswillnotbeconsidered.

Onacceptanceofacontributionforpublication,authorsmustprovidetextfilessuitablefortypesettingandhighresolutionimagefiles.PageproofswillbeemailedtoauthorsinPDFformatandshouldbecorrectedandreturnedasquicklyaspossible. 

Fullpaper 

Thefullmanuscriptmustconformtothepresentation,formattingandstyleguidelineslaidoutbelow.Theguidelengthis3500words,excludingtablesandfigures,butmaybevariedwiththeagreementoftheEditor.Thereisnorestrictionintheuseofcolourinillustrations.

Formattingofmanuscript

InpreparingthemanuscriptasaWordorrtffile,thereisnoneedtoformatthearticletoaspecifictemplate,butpleaseincludeitalicorboldtypewherenecessary. 

Usehardreturnsattheendofparagraphsonly;switchautohyphenationoff;anddonotjustifytext. 

Consistencyinspacing,punctuation,andspellingisessential.ThejournalusesUKand'ise'spellings,e.g.'characterise'ratherthan'characterize'.

Tablesshouldbeincludedwithinthemanuscriptfile,notprovidedasseparatefiles.UseWordTablemode,nottabsorspacesbetweencolumns.Donotprovidetablesasimagefiles.

EquationsshouldbeproducedusingWordEquationEditor.

Structureofsubmission

Thefullformofanyabbreviationoracronymshouldbegiveninthetextwhenthetermisfirstused.Donotusefullpointswithinabbreviations（e.g.SEM,XRD）.

Becarefulnottousethesamesymboltorepresentmorethanonevariable.EnsurethatGreeksymbolsareclearandthatsimilarcharacters,e.g.theletter'el'andthenumber'one'andtheletter'oh'andthenumber'zero',areclearlydistinguishedandusedconsistently.Alistofsymbolsshouldbeprovidedifhelpfultothereader.

Figuresshouldbecitedinasinglesequencethroughoutthetextas'Fig.1','Fig.2',…

Equationsandtablesshouldalsobenumberedinsequenceandreferredtointhetextas,forexample,'equation

ImportantnoteonequationsinWord2007:

 equationsgeneratedinWord2007cannotbeusedfortypesettingbecausetheyarestoredasimages（unlikeinpreviousversionsofWord）.PapersthatincludeequationsmustbepreparedinWord2007compatibilitymode（asdescribedbelow）orinanearlierversionofWord,orusingtheMathTypepackagetosettheequations.

Compatibilitymodemustbeusedfromtheoutsettotypesetequations;itisnotpossibletoconvertequationsretrospectively.Tousecompatibilitymode:

Referenceandnotesshouldbenumberedseriallyinasinglesequence.Citationsinthetextshouldbeassuperiorcharacters,thus,1,2,4-6 outsideanypunctuationmarks.Referencescitedforthefirsttimeinatableorfigurecaptionshouldbenumberedasiftheyappearedinthetextwherethetableorfigureisfirstmentioned.Referencesshouldbesetoutinacompletelistattheendofthepaper,numberedaccordingtotheirappearanceinthetext,notpositionedasfootnotes.
