3.0GENERAL

TheSellershallberesponsibleforsupplyingallmaterialscompatiblewiththeprocessfluid(s)asspecifiedwithinthe"InstrumentDataSheet".TheSellershallcompletethematerialsportionofthe"InstrumentDataSheet"andsubmitaspartofthebidproposal.

TheSellershallberesponsibleforsizingofthecontrolvalvebasedontheprocessinformationcontainedwithinthe"InstrumentDataSheet".TheSellershallincludethevalveandtrimsizewithinthe"InstrumentDataSheet"andsubmitaspartofthebidproposal.Onreceiptofanorder,thesellershallsubmitacertifiedsizingcalculationforOwner,ClientandBuyerreviewandacceptance.

TheSellershallberesponsibleforassurancethatthecontrolvalvenoiselevelshallmeettherequirementsaslaidoutinSection10.0ofthisspecificationand/ortheconditionsspecifiedwithinthe"InstrumentDataSheet".Onreceiptofanorder,thesellershallsubmitacopyofthecalculatedsoundpressurelevel(SPL)foreachcontrolvalveandthedatausedtodeterminethisvalue.

ControlvalvesandvolumetanksshallhaveaCanadianRegistrationNumber(CRN)denotingAlbertaBoilersBranch(ABB)registration.

CSAapprovalforthespecifiedareaclassificationisrequiredforallelectrical/electroniccomponentssuppliedwithacontrolvalve.

Allcontrolvalveactuators,andaccessoriesshallbecapableofoperatingthroughoutanambienttemperaturerangeof-40°C(-40°F)to+40°C(+105°F).

WheretheSellerwishestotakeanexceptionorintroduceanalternate,theymustdosobyclearlydefiningsameanddetailingthecostdifferencesinvolvedand/oradvantageswhereapplicableandobtainapprovalfromOwner,ClientandBuyer.

Materials

Allvalvematerialsshallbeasthedescriptioninthepurchaseorder,thisspecificationandtheInstrumentDataSheet.Incaseofconflictmaterialshallbeasperdatasheet.

Controlvalvesbodiesarenottobespecifiedwithany‘yellowmetals’(brass,copper,orcopperalloys),thisshallapplytoallinternalandallexternalpartsofthevalveassembly.

MaterialSubstitutions

Whenmaterialsubstitutionsareproposedbytheseller,specificationsheetsshallbefurnishedforOwner,ClientandBuyerapprovalwhichincludechemicalandphysicalproperties,meltingpractice,deoxidationpractice,deoxidationmaterials,heattreatmentandgrainsize.Allsupplementaryrequirementsoftheoriginalspecificationsuchasimpacttests,whereapplicable,shallapplytothesubstitutedmaterials.

ThefollowingsubstitutionsaregenerallyacceptablebutaresubjecttoOwner,ClientandBuyerreviewandacceptance.

WhereType304stainlesssteelisspecified,Type316stainlesssteelmaybeoffered.SubstitutionofausteniticstainlesssteelvalvesforferriticalloyvalvesshallrequirereviewandacceptancebyOwner,ClientandBuyer.

Wherepressure-containingpartshavebeenspecifiedasforged,substitutionofcastingsisnotpermittedwithoutOwner,ClientandBuyerreviewandacceptance.Forgedpartsmaybesubstitutedforcastingswithoutreviewandacceptance.

ASTMA350,GradeLF2andASTM352,GradeLCCareanacceptablesubstituteforASTMA352,GradeLCB.

Ifmaterialsaresubstituted,alltagmarkingsanddocumentationmustreflecttheactualmaterialsused.

4.0CONTROLVALVEAPPLICATIONS

TheSellershallselectcontrolvalvedesignbasedontherequirementsoftheapplication,processoperatingconditions,andthisspecification.Ifmorethanoneofthefollowingconcernsarepresenttheapplicationmaybestbeservedbyconsideringit“severe”

∙highvibration/noiseexpected

∙flashingservice

∙erosivefluids

∙singlepointfailure

∙historicalknowledge

5.0VALVEBODY

Dimensions

Thevalvebodysizeshallnotbelessthan1NPS.Whereasizesmallerthan1NPSisrequired,a1NPSbodywithreducedtrimshallbeused.

Sizes1-1/4,2-1/2,and5NPSarenotstandard,usesizes1-1/2,3and6NPSrespectivelyasdirectreplacements.Itispreferredthatthevalvedoesnotuseareducedtrimsize

Face-to-facedimensionsforallflangedglobecontrolvalves,ANSIClasses300#through600#,shallconformtoANSI/ISAS75.03.

FlangedendvalvesoutsidethescopeofANSI/ISAS75.03(i.e.ANSIClasses900#,1500#and2500#)shallmeetANSIB16.5,ANSIB16.34,ANSI/ISAS75.19andface-to-facedimensionsasperANSI/ISAS75.16

Connections

AllcontrolvalvesshallbeminimumANSIClass300#R.F.flange,unlessotherwisespecifiedinthe"InstrumentDataSheet".

Butterflycontrolvalvesmaybespecifieduptoamaximumoperatingtemperatureof250°C(500°F).

Butterflycontrolvalvebodymaterialsshallhavethesamenominalcoefficientofthermalexpansionastheboltingmaterialandadjacentflanges.Butterflyvalvesshallbeofthe‘LuggedSingleFlange‘typewithallboltingholesdrilledthrough.Allvalvestobeinstalledwithstudsandnuts,nocapscrews.

WherecontrolvalvebodyconnectionsotherthanANSIR.F.flangearerequired,itwillbespecifiedinthe"InstrumentDataSheet".

Theremovalofflangedendsfromvalvesinordertosupplybuttweldedvalvesisstrictlyprohibited

EndconnectionsshallbespecifiedbytheBuyer

FlangedconnectionsshallcomplywithASMEB16.5.Dimensionsofflangeslargerthan24”sizeshallcomplywithindustrystandardandshallbespecifiedbytheBuyer.Raisedface(RF)flangesshallbeusedforlinesrateduptoandincludingASMEClass600anduptoadesigntemperatureof480°C(900°F).ThegasketcontactsurfaceofraisedfaceflangedvalvesuptoandincludingASMEClass600ratingsshallbesmoothmachine-finished.
