AbookofpoemsByTennyson,publishedin1832,receivedsomebadreviewsandthisputthepoetoffpublishinganythingforthenextnineyears.Hewrotesomehismostpersonalpoemsafter1833,followingthesuddendeathofhisdearestfriendHallam.Asawayo

fdealingwithhissadness,Tennysonwrotequitealotofpoemsoverthenextdecade.Thesewerecollectedtogetherandpublishedin1850asInMemoriam,whichestablishedhisnameasaseriouspoet.
