AdmissionsCriteria

Admissionsdecisionsarebasedonthecandidate’sacademicachievementsandpotential,aswellashisorherpersonalaccomplishments.

Theadmissionscommitteereviewsanumberoffactors–recordsofpaststudies（suchasgradepointaverageorGPA）,thestudyplan,personalstatement,andlettersofrecommendation.Otherachievementrecordsandspecificqualificationssuchaslanguageproficiencyarealsotakenintoconsideration.Thecandidate’sapplicationisreviewedinthecontextofthelevelofstudiescompleted,qualityofachievement,andcharacteristicsofinstitutionsattended.Finally,theappropriatenessoftheapplicant’sacademicgoalsandsuitabilityofpreparationfortheproposedprogramofstudiesareassessed.

Interviews,examinations,and/oradditionaldocumentsmayberequiredfromtheapplicant,basedonthepolicyofthespecificcollegeordepartment.IFtheapplicantisapplyingtotheCollegeofFineArts,theCollegeofMusic,theDepartmentofPhysicalEducationortheFineArtsEducationMajor,theapplicantwillbenotifiedindividuallyasnecessary.

●Thisisanopportunityforyoutoconveyinformationaboutyourselfandyouraccomplishmentsthatcouldnotbeadequatelyexpressedthroughotherportionsoftheapplication.

●Includefamilybackground,academicachievements,extracurricularcommitmentsandaccomplishments,volunteerwork,employmentexperience,andyourreasonsforapplyingtoSNU.Otherappropriatetopicsmayincludethefollowingbutnotlimitedto:

personalinterests,pastimeactivities,opinionsonmusic,thearts,etc”.

StudyPlan

●TheStudyPlanshouldstateyouracademicgoalsandcareeraspirations.Youmayincludequestionsthatyouhopetoanswerthroughyourprogramofstudyand/oratimelineforhowyouplantomeetyourobjectives.Itisadvisedthatyoureviewtherequirementsforthedesireddegree.

●Werecommendthatyoudiscussyouracademicgoalswithateacherorprofessorpriortocomposingyourstudyplan.

●Twolettersofrecommendationfromteachersorprofessorsarerequired.

●Completeyourpartofthisformand,alongwithastampedandaddressedenvelope,supplythemdirectlytotworecommenderswhoknowyouwell.Besuretogivethemadequatetimetocompletetheformsbeforetheapplicationdeadline.Recommendationsshouldbesealedinanofficialenvelopeandsignedacrossthebackbytherecommenders.

●Yourrecommendersshouldgiveustheirappraisalsofthecontributionsyoumadeintheirclassesoracademicfield.Theyareaskedtogivetheirpersonalimpressionsofyourcharacter,intellectualability,aptitudeinresearch,andthequalityofyourpreviousworkandpotential.

●Form4shouldlisttheavailablefinancialresourcesforyourtuitionandotherexpenses.Nootherdocumentsrelatedtosponsorshiparenecessary.

●Thesedocumentsdetailyouracademicachievementsandarerequiredfromeveryinstitutionthatyouattendedinthepast.

●Transcriptsmustprovidearecordofthecoursesyouhavetakenineachyearofstudyalongwiththefinalgrades.Ifaninstitutioncannotprovideayear-by-yearrecord,thentheschoolofficialmustatleastprovideuswithalistingofthedisciplinesyouhavestudied（i.e.English,Biology,History,etc.）andasummaryofyourachievementineach.
