FOREWORD

Historicalbackground

StandardsandRecommendedPracticesrelatingtometeorologywerefirstadoptedbytheCouncilon16April1948,pursuanttotheprovisionsofArticle37oftheConventiononInternationalCivilAviation（Chicago,1944）,anddesignatedasAnnex3totheConventionwiththetitleStandardsandRecommendedPractices—MeteorologicalCodes.TheStandardsandRecommendedPracticeswerebasedonrecommendationsoftheSpecialSessionoftheMeteorologyDivision,heldinSeptember1947.

TableAshowstheoriginofsubsequentamendments,togetherwithalistoftheprincipalsubjectsinvolvedandthedatesonwhichtheAnnexandtheamendmentswereadoptedorapprovedbytheCouncil,whentheybecameeffectiveandwhentheybecameapplicable.
