Onhiswayhomehesawapersonlyingonthesnow.Heplacedhisbasketsonthegroundandwasgoingtohelpthepersontogetup.Atthattimehefounditwasadeadmanandtherewasmuchbloodonhisbody.Hewassoafraidthatheranawayquickly,withouttakingthebasketswithhim.
Thenextafternoonthefarmerwassenttothepolicestation.Havingshownthebaskets,anofficerasked,“Aretheseyours”“Yes,sir.”thefarmeransweredtimidly（胆怯地）.“Haveyoukilledtheman”“No,no,sir.”thefarmersaidinahurry.“Whendidyouseethedeadman”“Aboutsevenlastevening.”“Didyouseewhokilledtheman”“No,sir.”Theofficerbroughtoutaknifeandasked,“Haveyouseenityet”“No,sir.”Theofficerbecameangryandtoldthepolicementobeathimupandsenthimintoprison.theofficerwantedtotrapthefarmerintotheconfession（供认）,butthefarmerdidn’tadmithewasthemurderer.
