Livinginahighlycompetitivesociety,theideathatthepurposeoflifeistoworkisprevalentevendominant.Themajorityofpeopleareapttolivetoworktocopewiththeoverwhelmingpressure.Theysparenoeffortstohaveafulfillingcareerandtakeitforgrantedthatdevotingtoworkisthemostreasonableandworthythingtodo.

Therealizationofthevalueoflife

Peoplewhopreferlivingtoworkdevotethemselvestotheirworktorealizethevalueoflife,topromotethedevelopmentofsocietyandtomakemorepeoplelivehappily.Theymakegreatcontributionstosocietyandatthesametimetheyalsopickuppleasureandenjoymentfromtheirwork.

Sincewearemembersofsociety,weshoulddowhatwecantomakeitbetter.Onlyinthisway,canweliveinmorecomfortableandmoreconvenientsurroundings.

Livingtoworkdoesn’tmeanthere'snothingleftexceptwork,butmeansthatourlivesshouldbemeaningfulandworthwhile.Itliesinahigherstateofmindthanworkingtolive.Workingtoliveconcernsoneselfonly,butlivingtoworkconcernsmuchmore,suchasworldaswellashumanbeings.

AspertheBureauofLaborStatistics–intheUSalone,320,000waitersandwaitress,80,000bartenders,and18,000parkinglotattendantshaveabachelorsdegree.Thatisnotcountingtheoneswhohavedoctorates.

Atriskareyourpersonalrelationships,yourdevelopmentasaperson,yoursanity,andevenyourlife.Stresskills.Youneeddowntimetohelpyourmindandbodycopewiththedemandsofyourjob.

1.Attitudeiseverything.

Nomatterhowmuchyouloveyourjob,nomatterhowbigapartofyourlifeitis,ultimatelyyouneedtobeableto“turnitoff”andspendsometimenotworking.Thisishardforalotofpeople,becausetheirworkisanimportantpartofwhotheyareaspeople.Thiscanbeadmirable,especiallywhenyouaccomplishgreatthingsinyourwork,butanalways-on-the-jobattitudecanbeharmfulinthelongrun.Attheleast,thepeopearoundyouwillgettiredofcominginsecondtoyourwork,causingdamagetoyourrelationshipsandeventuallyleavingyouwithoutthem.What’smore,itmightevenreduceyoureffectivenessinyourwork—boththemindandbodyneedabreakfromthinkingaboutanddoingthesamethingsallthetimetorechargeandkeepcomingupwithfreshideas.
